Join now >Matthew Slater is re-signing with the Patriots, according to multiple reports.
Slater took a visit with the Steelers last week, but the seven-time special teams Pro Bowler is returning to the Patriots. He’ll be a key member of the Patriots as a special teams captain that makes a ton of plays on the important third unit, but he’s not on the fantasy radar.

Dolphins GM Mike Tannenbaum said “we’ll see where it goes” when discussing WR Jarvis Landry.
Tannenbaum was on NFL Network and was asked a few questions about the state of his roster, including whether they would draft a quarterback. It’s interesting that the Dolphins don’t appear to be making if known that they want to bring Landry back, and it certainly sounds like they might just let him hit free agency and see what happens. If Landry does indeed hit the open market, we’d guess other teams will offer more money than Miami, so he might have played his last down with the Dolphins.

The Panthers signed Jarius Wright to a three-year deal.
Wright is reunited with new Panthers offensive coordinator Norv Turner, who was with Wright as the Vikings offensive coordinator from the 2014 season and into the 2016 season until he stepped away from the team. In a Panthers receiving group looking for players to emerge, Wright has a chance to be a top-three wide receiver for them. At the very least, he’ll provide good leadership and an example for second-year receiver Curtis Samuel in the slot. Wright isn’t a recommended fantasy selection in 2018 fantasy drafts as of now, but he’s someone to keep an eye on.

Jon Gruden indicates Michael Crabtree will be back with the Raiders in 2018.
Gruden revealed a good amount in an excellent interview with Jerry McDonald of the Bay Area News Group, and he went over a few things that excite him about the roster. Gruden said he bumped into Crabtree (they are not allowed to have official meetings because of the collective bargaining agreement) and said, “hopefully we can get the best out of Crabtree and his career.” Crabtree has 25 touchdowns over the last three seasons as he and quarterback Derek Carr have a great connection, so we expect him to be back with the Raiders despite the team’s ability to get out of the receiver’s contract if they choose. He would have 1,000-yard, 10-touchdown upside if he does remain in Oakland with Gruden and the Raiders.

The Raiders signed quarterback Josh Johnson.
Johnson is a veteran quarterback that Jon Gruden actually drafted when he was with Tampa Bay in 2008. It’s cool to see, and a good sign for him as a player, that Gruden likes him enough to want him on his team again ten years later. He’ll probably compete with Connor Cook for the backup job behind Derek Carr.

Le’Veon Bell says he’s in a “good spot” with the Steelers regarding contract discussions.
There seems to more optimism than there’s been in the last two years surrounding Bell and his team, as the star running back says they’ve been negotiating since the season ended. Also, Bell told reporters he was late to the walkthrough before the AFC Divisional Round loss to the Jaguars because of “personal reasons” and the coaches were aware that would be the case. Bell also said they are “a lot further” along in their negotiations than at this point last year, and it looks like the two sides might be able to strike a long-term deal. It’s probably safe to say neither side wants to use the franchise tag again, as it could turn into an ugly situation with another almost-certain holdout at least throughout training camp.

The Jaguars are releasing tight end Marcedes Lewis, according to the AP’s Mark Long.
This is a bit surprising after the Jags picked up Lewis’ option for 2018, but it explains the team signing tight ends Niles Paul and Austin Seferian-Jenkins in free agency. For Lewis, it ends a 12-year run with the team in which he caught 375 passes for 4,502 yards and 33 touchdowns. He probably has a right to be angry about the move coming so late in free agency, as he might’ve had more opportunities if Jacksonville released him before the new league year. Lewis will be 34 in May, but he’s likely to draw a interest elsewhere as a strong blocker that caught five touchdowns in 2017.
