Join now >The Bills have signed quarterback A.J. McCarron.
This came a bit out of nowhere with the team announcing it, but it was basically a perfect match as the game of quarterback musical chairs seemingly ended with both the Bills and McCarron the only two left standing. The team says it’s a two-year deal for McCarron, and it’ll give him a chance to finally become a starting quarterback for a team after spending the last four years stuck behind Andy Dalton in Cincinnati. However, the Bills appear poised to move up for a quarterback in next month’s draft, so we’ll see what happens.

Rob Gronkowski leaves AFC Championship after hit to the head.
With the Patriots driving down the field for a two-minute drill to end the first half, Gronk took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Jaguars safety Barry Church—which drew a 15-yard penalty. Gronkowski appeared to be a little woozy, and he went into the locker room—apparently to be evaluated for a concussion. It appeared Gronkowski said he was “good” and wanted to re-enter the game, but there’s a chance his day is done given the NFL’s rules and concussion protocol. If the All-Pro tight end is ruled out for the game, it’d obviously be a huge loss with a Super Bowl trip on the line. We’ll update you as more information becomes available.

The Cardinals are signing Mike Glennon to a two-year deal.
Yesterday it was reported that this would happen, and it came together just a couple minutes after the Bears officially released Glennon. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says it’s a two-year deal worth $8 million for Glennon, but he might have some incentives if he is forced to hit the field and plays well. Sam Bradford has unfortunately had trouble staying healthy throughout his career, so Glennon probably figured he might have a decent shot of playing with Arizona.

Tom Brady (hand) is officially active for the AFC Championship Game against Jacksonville.
Obviously, this was fully expected. Brady was reportedly throwing the ball well on Friday despite having four stitches near his thumb after the injury suffered in practice on Wednesday. The G.O.A.T. is looking to lead his team to the Super Bowl for the eighth time, and he will hopefully be his usual self despite the injury to his throwing hand. Brady might wear a right glove for the game for the first time in a while.

The Bears released wide receiver Markus Wheaton.
After adding Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel, Wheaton didn’t look like he was going to have a role with the Bears in 2018, so this is probably better for him to have a chance to sign with another team. Wheaton has battled injuries over the last couple of season, but he’s still only 27 years old and should draw good interest as a free agent.

Mike Gillislee (knee) is officially inactive today against the Jaguars.
Gillislee was limited in practice all week and perhaps would be able to play if needed, but he might have been a healthy scratch anyway with Rex Burkhead (knee) active for the AFC Championship. Now Gillislee will need to just hope his team can advance to the Super Bowl so he can potentially get some action in the Big Game.

Sammy Watkins has officially signed with the Chiefs.
This is one of the biggest moves of free agency, as it adds depth opens up what was already an explosive Chiefs offense. The addition of Watkins will make things a lot easier on second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes II in his first year as the starter, and there might not be a receiver duo in the league with more speed than Watkins and Tyreek Hill. While Watkins is getting paid big money by the Chiefs, it’s safe to say he was also convinced he would have a big role in Andy Reid’s offense—and the money indicates the Chiefs do indeed have big plans for him. Watkins is only 24 years old, and the best could be yet to come. Consider him a WR2 for now, as Hill’s presence could limit his upside a bit. It’s worth noting both Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson had top 20 fantasy wide receiver years in the same season under Reid in Philadelphia, so that could happen with Watkins and Hill in KC.
