Join now >Rex Burkhead (knee) is officially active for the AFC Championship.
NFL Network reported last week that Burkhead was going play and ESPN reported the same this morning; it’s now official, and the versatile running back will be another weapon for the Patriots against one of the best defenses in the NFL. Burkhead hasn’t played since Week 15 when he first injured his knee, but he should be able to step right into a sizable role. He’s probably the favorite for goal line carries today.

De’Anthony Thomas has re-signed with the Chiefs.
The Black Mamba apparently had an offer worth $1.5 million more on the table from another team, but he wants to remain in Kansas City. He probably won’t be higher than fourth on the depth chart, but Thomas should provide good special teams value. The Chiefs easily have the fastest receiving core in the NFL.

Chris Ivory is inactive for the AFC Championship.
Ivory is again a healthy scratch, as the Jaguars are going with T.J. Yeldon and Corey Grant behind Leonard Fournette. The rookie Fournette should get another huge workload as the Jags look to advance to the Super Bowl.

Tom Savage is signing with the Saints.
Savage’s agency, Schwartz & Feinsod made the announcement on Twitter. New Orleans is a good spot for Savage, and he’ll be able to compete for the backup job behind Drew Brees now that Chase Daniel is off to Chicago to backup Mitchell Trubisky. However, Taysom Hill is a clear favorite of Sean Payton and might have the inside track for the job.

Eli Rogers tore his ACL in the Divisional Round against the Steelers.
Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette was the first to report the news. Rogers is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this offseason, and he’ll almost certainly be back with the Steelers now. Unfortunately, Rogers will miss all of the offseason, and he’s in jeopardy of missing all of training camp and the start of the regular season. Hopefully Rogers has a great rehab and recovery and is better than ever when he gets back on the field.

The Vikings are trading for Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian, according to Ian Rapoport.
Kirk Cousins appears set to sign with Minnesota as the team’s new starter, but Sam Bradford, Teddy Bridgewater, and Case Keenum are all leaving in free agency. Siemian will give them a very solid backup that has had some good playing experience over the last couple seasons. Ideally, Cousins will sign and do fine with the Vikings, but Siemian is an insurance policy that can step in and play well if needed.

Tom Brady was “zinging it pretty good today,” according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport says he was told this by a source, who also said Brady’s thumb was “gushing blood” when the injury occurred during Wednesday’s practice. Brady can throw the ball, and that’s basically all we need to know for his status for the AFC Championship. He’ll be out there looking for his eighth trip to the Super Bowl, and it sounds like he might be close to his usual self despite just getting stitches on Wednesday.
