Join now >Levine Toilolo tore his Achilles.
The unfortunate injury occurred at today’s practice, and Toilolo will obviously be out for the season. New York is still in good shape at tight end with Kyle Rudolph and Kaden Smith behind Evan Engram, but hopefully Toilolo—who just turned 30 last week—is able to make a full recovery for 2022.

The Giants are signing Andy Jones.
As we await word on the exact severity of Kenny Golladay’s hamstring issue, hopefully this isn’t a sign that it’ll be a lengthy absence for Golladay. But Jones will bring some experience and depth to the Giants receiving corps throughout camp, and he’ll look to earn a spot on the final roster this preseason.

The Jets are signing Josh Johnson.
Johnson was released by the 49ers in June, but he’s found a new landing spot with New York having a very wide open depth chart at quarterback. While the veteran has only made eight career starts, he’s been around since 2009 and will bring a stable presence for No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson to learn from.

Keith Kirkwood was carted out of practice after taking a hit to the head.
Teammate JT Ibe delivered the hit and was kicked out, so it was likely a dirty and/or unnecessary play, and we can only hope that Kirkwood ends up being OK. The 27-year-old caught one passes last season with the Panthers and is again hoping to crack the roster as depth behind D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, David Moore, and rookie Terrace Marshall Jr.

The Vikings claimed Danny Etling.
Minnesota is dealing with COVID issues at quarterback, so Etling will now join the mix during training camp. The former LSU quarterback has athleticism and versatility that should help in situations like this.

Carson Wentz is out for five-to-12 weeks, according to head coach Frank Reich.
Wentz was reported over the weekend to be opting for rest, but that has obviously changed, and the Colts new quarterback could miss up to three months of action. Overall, we’d say this is a wise decision for the long-term outlook of Wentz, as he would have been seriously hampered if he opted to simply play on the injury after rest. For now, Jacob Eason is the starter for Indy, and this news—if nothing else—should lead to Jonathan Taylor being the unmistakable focal point on offense. In terms of off-the-field implications, there is now a strong chance the draft selection the Colts owe to the Eagles is a 2022 second-rounder rather than a 2022 first-round pick.

UPDATE: DeVonta Smith is expected to miss a couple of weeks, according to multiple reports.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter says it’s an MCL sprain for Smith, who is expected to miss two-to-three weeks. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport also reported earlier that it should be a couple of weeks for Smith. The Eagles are probably hoping Smith will be ready for Week 3 of the preseason, but they won’t rush him back with an eye toward the regular season. This injury might prevent Smith’s ADP from rising much this summer, but we’ll see.
