Jordy Nelson | Retired WR

Jordy Nelson (shoulder) is unlikely to play this week.

Nelson will not practice today, according to head coach Mike McCarthy, and it doesn’t sound like the veteran receiver will be out there to end the regular season. Considering the Packers are not in playoff contention, there is no need to put Nelson out there at less than 100%. While he’s a competitor that probably wants to play, there needs to be at least some focus on getting to the offseason at full health.

Sam Bradford | Free Agent QB

Sam Bradford (knee) is expected to return to practice next week.

Here we go. Bradford is apparently feeling a lot better than he did when he was placed on injured reserve earlier this season, and Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer anticipates he’ll be back in practice next week—but he didn’t make any commitments for Bradford’s playoff status. It’s difficult to pull Case Keenum right now, but Bradford is a major ace-in-the-hole that could certainly lead this Vikings team to a Super Bowl. If he’s around 100% and able to practice next week, Bradford will likely take over backup duties from Teddy Bridgewater, who hasn’t played in much game action over the last two years. Minnesota acquired Bradford for a first-round pick for a reason, and it would not be at all surprising to see him under center if Keenum slips up in January.

Todd Gurley | Free Agent RB

The Rams might rest some starters in Week 17.

Los Angeles is locked into the third or fourth seed in the NFC, and Rams head coach Sean McVay said they might rest some guys given the opportunity of playing a home game in the Wild Card Round no matter what happens this Sunday. It’s not clear if Jared Goff, Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, and Todd Gurley—who is in the thick of the MVP race—will sit, but McVay indicated it could come down to what they do in terms of resting guys on the offensive line. Obviously, we’ll have to keep an eye on this during the week, and we would expect the team will say ahead of time who is playing and who is not this week against the 49ers.

12/27/17 - 09:59 AM ET

Travaris Cadet | Panthers RB

Travaris Cadet (ankle) has been placed on injured reserve.

Cadet’s injury suffered on Christmas Eve is being called a fractured ankle, and his season is officially over. Cadet appeared in seven games this season (one with the Jets and six with the Bills), carrying 23 times for 96 yards along with 16 receptions for 119 yards. The Bills might want to bring him back in 2018, but Cadet isn’t a recommended fantasy option for 2018 as of now.

12/26/17 - 09:41 PM ET

Andre Holmes | Free Agent WR

Andre Holmes (neck) has been placed on injured reserve.

Holmes’ first season in Buffalo ends with 13 receptions for 120 yards and three touchdowns in ten games. He also contributed on special teams and should have a roster spot with the Bills next season. The former Raider is an underrated talent that would likely be a solid fantasy option in a featured role, but it doesn’t appear he’ll have that in 2018.

12/26/17 - 09:38 PM ET

Malachi Dupre | Chargers WR

The Bills promoted Malachi Dupre to the active roster.

Dupre is a talented rookie from LSU that’s being promoted as a corresponding move with Andre Holmes being placed on injured reserve with a neck injury. Dupre will look to carve out a role quickly with the Bills, but he’s not a viable fantasy option at the moment.

12/26/17 - 09:35 PM ET

Brad Kaaya | Bengals QB

Brad Kaaya has signed with the Colts.

The sixth-round from Miami was on Detroit’s practice squad, and the Colts wanted to sign him ahead of the end of the regular season next week. Ideally, Indy won’t need Kaaya to develop into a backup role if Andrew Luck can get healthy and have Jacoby Brissett slide into the number two role as perhaps the best backup quarterback in the league. Kaaya doesn’t need to be owned in dynasty leagues quite yet.
