Again, Kendall Wright worked as the clear starter in the slot, and it’s going to be that way when the season opens. Cruz might not be on the final roster for the Bears.

Lions and Matthew Stafford agree to five-year extension, according to Adam Schefter.
Schefter reports the deal is expected to make Stafford the highest paid player in NFL history, which would surpass Derek Carr’s record-breaking five-year $125 million deal earlier this year. Look for Stafford to be just above $25 million, or perhaps at $26 million, per year as he’ll now be locked in with Detroit into his mid 30’s. This is the going rate for top quarterbacks, but the Lions are going to expect big things for Stafford after paying him this much before the season. Likely to have more balance on offense this season with a healthy Ameer Abdullah, Stafford and the Lions are looking to have a big season in 2017.

Kevin White is set to be the number one receiver for the Bears this season.
Unfortunately, Cameron Meredith went down with a gruesome knee injury in today’s exhibition versus the Titans that looks like it will certainly keep him out for the season. White, the seventh overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, will be looked upon to step up for Chicago with Meredith out. He certainly has the potential, but struggled to stay healthy through his first two seasons in the league. White had two receptions for 30 yards today against Tennessee, showing flashes of the explosiveness and athleticism he showed at West Virginia. He’s certainly worth a late-round pick in 2017 fantasy drafts.

Cameron Meredith did tear his ACL, the Bears announced.
This was the unfortunate expectation after Meredith went down in the preseason game on Sunday. To make matters worse, there might be additional damage in the knee, and more tests are needed to determine that. With Meredith done for the season, Kevin White will likely step up as the number one receiver for Mike Glennon, with Kendall Wright likely to get more targets his way in the slot. We hope to see Meredith have a great recovery and rehab so he’s back out on the field at 100% in 2018.

Kendall Wright catches three-of-five targets in Bears’ third preseason game.
Wright had worked as the clear lead slot receiver over Victor Cruz once again, and had 35 yards on his three receptions. The former Titan played well against his former team in the exhibition, and he’ll be one of Chicago’s starters in Week 1. He could be in line for more targets after the unfortunate knee injury to Cameron Meredith. Wright has a chance to deliver solid PPR value this year.

Jets head coach Todd Bowles officially named Josh McCown the team’s starting quarterback.
This was very much expected, despite the team electing not to play McCown in the third preseason game. McCown is starting to open the year, but second-year quarterback Christian Hackenberg will likely make some starts this season. Given his experience, McCown is the best option for the fantasy value of the skill position players on the Jets. It’d be a surprise if McCown delivered solid fantasy value, though.

Mitchell Trubisky plays great in Bears’ third preseason game.
Trubisky started the second half for the Bears and played much of the second half, going 10/15 for 128 yards and a touchdown. The rookie threw a perfect deep ball to Tanner Gentry for a 45-yard touchdown, and he threw strikes throughout his time in the game. When Trubisky gets a clean pocket—like he did on the long touchdown—he is a very precise and accurate passer. Had Mike Glennon not also played very well in the first half, Trubisky would probably be starting in Week 1. However, expect Glennon to be under center when the Bears face the Falcons in Week 1.
