The Dolphins tight end scored on a one-yard flat route from Jay Cutler. Thomas also had another reception, but it went for no gain. Currently going undrafted, Thomas could end up being a solid wavier wire pickup as he’s back in Adam Gase’s offense. Remember: he scored 24 touchdowns in two season with Gase as his offensive coordinator in Denver.

Wendell Smallwood makes 2017 preseason debut.
The second-year back from West Virginia missed most of the preseason with a hamstring injury, but he’s back to 100% and played in the third preseason game for the Eagles. The starters played only a quarter, and Smallwood played exclusively with them, mixing in with LeGarrette Blount. He had four carries for 28 yards and showed some good explosiveness and vision in his first game back from the injury. It looks like Smallwood’s roster spot is locked up despite missing so much time this preseason, and now it’s just a matter of how much playing time he gets this season. Smallwood is worth a selection in deeper leagues, and he’s someone to watch even in standard sized leagues.

LeGarrette Blount carries four times in the Eagles’ third preseason game.
Blount had four carries for 19 yards against the Dolphins. The 30-year-old back looked fine, but the concerning thing is Wendell Smallwood—who made his preseason debut after being injured for much of the last few weeks—mixed in with the first-team offense. Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said Blount will be a “big part” of the offense, but Smallwood looks like he’s going to have a sizable role in the backfield; add in Darren Sproles (who hasn’t played this preseason as the Eagles rested him), and the Eagles have a running back by committee. The goal line might be where Blount cashes in on his fantasy value this season, but there’s no guarantee Smallwood and/or Sproles don’t cut into his touches there. Blount is a risky selection in the 5th/6th round, which is where he’s going in some drafts.

Wentz looks Zach Ertz’s way in Week 3 of the preseason.
The Eagles starting tight end had three receptions for 44 yards in the exhibition against Miami. All of the receptions for Ertz were over ten yards, and he showed his wide receiver-like ability and good hands in his quarter of action. It looks like Ertz will be a very good option in PPR leagues, as he’ll look to pick up some of the slack after the departure of Jordan Matthews.

Torrey Smith catches 50-yard touchdown in preseason game.
It took until Week 3 of the preseason, but Smith finally had a pass go his way for a long touchdown. Smith run right through the defense and was wide open after a bust in coverage by the Dolphins. The reception was Smith’s only of the preseason, as he’s unlikely to play in Week 4 of the preseason. He might have some good weeks, but it’s unlikely Smith is a reliable fantasy option in 2017.

DeVante Parker goes up for long pass in Dolphins’ third preseason game.
The third-year receiver had two receptions for 78 yards, including a 72-yard reception. On the 72-yarder, Parker ran a go route and easily went up and over Eagles’ top corner Ronald Darby before running down the sideline and nearly scoring. If Cutler is going to give Parker opportunities like this, he’s going to have some monster games in 2017. Parker’s ADP is finally climbing into the top 100 as people are starting to recognize Parker should have a breakout year if he stays healthy.

Jay Ajayi scores twice in preseason game against the Eagles.
Ajayi looked very good in the Week 3 preseason matchup, rushing nine times for 53 yards including two two-yard touchdowns. The third-year back broke a 26-yard run in his quarter of action and, as usual, was not easy to bring down. The Dolphins decided to pull both Jay Cutler and Ajayi while leaving in the rest of the starters for the first half, and it’s clear Ajayi will get more than enough work this regular season. There aren’t many better second-round fantasy picks than Ajayi, and you can certainly take him in the first round if you like him enough.
