Andre Ellington gets seven touches in preseason game against the Bears.

Ellington had five carries for 11 yards and two receptions for 14 yards. He’s battling for a roster spot on a talented and deep Cardinals team.

Paxton Lynch struggles in preseason start.

Lynch was 9/13 for just 39 yards. He was actually more effective running the ball, which he did three times for 27 yards. Denver has a ready-to-win defense, so it was clear that Siemian is a better option than the unpolished Lynch. He should officially be named the #2 quarterback sometime this week.

Siemian closes door on starting job in win over 49ers?

Coming on in relief of an ineffective Paxton Lynch, Trevor Siemian was 8/11 for 93 yards and one touchdown. The favorite for the starting job all along, Siemian should be named the winner of the competition soon so Denver can get ready for the regular season knowing who the guy is.

Johnny Holton catches 17-yard score in Raiders’ loss to the Rams.

If not for the Rams scoring after, the fourth quarter touchdown by Holton would have been the game-winner. It was his only catch of the game. Holton isn’t a fantasy option.

Jared Cook caught one pass for 16 yards on Saturday night.

Cook will be extremely inconsistent on the Oakland offense. Some fantasy owners will likely target him late in drafts, but you should use your roster spot on someone else.

Jeremy Langford didn’t play in the Bears’ second preseason game.

Langford recently returned to practice after dealing with an ankle injury, but he hasn’t played in either of the team’s preseason games this year. He might be on the roster bubble, given the Bears’ depth at running back.

Lee Smith catches 19-yard touchdown in preseason loss.

Smith’s score came in the first quarter from Derek Carr, and he finished with two catches for 25 yards. With so many mouths to feed on the Oakland offense, including Jared Cook and Clive Walford at his own position, Lee isn’t a fantasy option.
