He was carted off at Jaguars’ practice earlier today, but NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport are both reporting the injury is not serious. Thankfully, it sounds like Lee should be fine well in advance of the regular season opener. Playing in the third preseason game would be ideal.

49ers GM John Lynch: The team is “pleased” with TE Vance McDonald.
McDonald, who signed an extension at the end of last season with the previous regime, was made available for a trade this offseason, but he’s still on the Niners. Lynch said they are “proud” of the way McDonald is competing and trying to block and that he’s shown them a lot. “He’s competing in a very competitive room,” Lynch said. “I think that’s a room where someone is going to have to separate themselves. He’s a big part of that. So, we’re very pleased with him right now.” It could just be the case of Lynch talking up McDonald to get more value for him in a trade, but McDonald certainly has receiving talent and could end up being the starting tight end for the team this season.

Jay Ajayi is still in concussion protocol.
In a very confusing turn of events, Ajayi was first said to be participating in practice and out of protocol, then he left practice, then he was said to just be dehydrated not in protocol, and now the Dolphins confirmed to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald that Ajayi IS still in concussion protocol. Ajayi has been out for about two weeks with this concussion, so it’s starting to become concerning. Hopefully he ends up being OK soon.

Rodney Adams catches four-of-six targets in second preseason game.
Adams had four receptions for 26 yards against Seattle, but he did also lose a fumble in the game. The Vikings fifth-rounder is battling for a final spot on the roster and has a couple more preseason games to show what he can do.

Leonard Fournette has a foot injury.
Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said they are “being careful with him.” It’s unclear what exactly is the issue with Fournette’s foot, but it sounds like he might sit out the rest of the preseason. This isn’t ideal for his fantasy value, obviously, as he would have to work his way back into the swing of things if he does indeed miss a couple of weeks with this issue. Marrone did say the rookie back’s foot is “nagging,” so it doesn’t appear to be an injury that would start him on the PUP list for the regular season or anything like that. Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon will try to take advantage of more reps with Fournette out.

Keelan Cole has impressive 31-yard punt return in preseason loss to Bucs.
Cole picked up where he left off in his first preseason game with the exciting return, but he unfortunately dropped a touchdown just moments later. He created good separation on the play, though, and is really showing well this month after he caught a 97-yard touchdown last week. The explosive rookie has a good chance of cracking the 53-man roster.

Marqise Lee goes down with non-contact injury in practice.
It is apparently an ankle injury, and Lee was not able to put any weight on his foot and had to be carried to a cart. It doesn’t sound good for the young receiver, although we have seen Giants WR Sterling Shepard be fine after what looked like a serious injury earlier in training camp. The Jaguars were counting on Lee to step up behind Allen Robinson this season after he enjoyed a mini breakout in 2016. Hopefully he turns out to be alright, but non-contact injuries are usually bad news.
