Join now >Nelson Agholor caught two passes for 28 yards and rushed once for zero yards on Thurday night.
Agholor showed the separation ability that makes us so high on him, and displayed improved focus when looking the ball in, including a 21-yard grab that he snatched out of the air just as he turned his head around. The third-year pro also was targeted in the end zone, but was double-covered, and won at the line to get wide open in the end zone, but the quarterback wasn’t looking his way. Agholor will be Philly’s primary slot receiver this season, and we think he should push Torrey Smith—who has shown nothing this preseason—out of two-WR sets.

Drew Stanton throws touchdown in preseason win over Oakland.
After he and Carson Palmer didn’t play in the Hall of Fame Game, Stanton played behind Palmer against the Raiders and played very well. He was 11/15 for 112 yards and a touchdown. Despite Blaine Gabbert joining Arizona, Stanton is locked in as the second quarterback for the team.

Marcus Mariota goes 2/3 for 15 yards in Week 1 of the preseason against the Jets.
Mariota also had a six-yard carry. His best play was a 15-yard pass to Rishard Matthews, where Mariota rolled out to his right and threw a strike on the run. Mariota could play more in Week 2 of the preseason next Saturday against the Panthers at 3:00 PM ET (on NFL Network).

Multiple reports: Cam Newton won’t play in tomorrow’s preseason game against the Titans.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Newton wants to play, but the Panthers aren’t going to risk it. The 2015 NFL MVP has been progressing and throwing more and more, but the team is acting wisely by not pushing it. Newton is fully expected to play in Carolina’s third preseason “dress rehearsal” game on Thursday night against the Jaguars. If you’re drafting before then, Newton should be a safe selection at his current ADP.

Julius Thomas catches one pass for two yards in Week 2 of the preseason.
Thomas had a bit of a back issue earlier in the week, but he’s fine. He didn’t draw a target from Jay Cutler (who played two series), but Cutler will probably look his way more in the third preseason game when they get more time together—it’s something to watch in Week 3 of the preseason.
8/18/17 - 10:12 AM ET
Todd Gurley held to two yards on four carries in preseason opener.
Gurley also caught a 10-yard pass, but rushing room was hard to come by for the first-team offense. The trade for Sammy Watkins could force defenses to respect the pass more, and we expect Jared Goff to take a big step in 2017, so don’t be too concerned about the slow start in the team’s first exhibition when it comes to their star runner.

Jalen Richard carries five times for seven yards in Week 1 of the preseason.
Richard couldn’t find much room to run versus the Cardinals. It’s unclear who the primary backup is behind Marshawn Lynch, and they’d both probably split the work evenly in the event of a Lynch injury.
