Join now >Nick Mullens is getting right elbow surgery, according to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco.
[UPDATE: It might be Tommy John surgery for Mullens, which carries a lengthy recovery time and may knock him out for all of 2021.] Mullens’ year ends with a 64.7% completion percentage, 2,437 passing yards, 12 passing touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in ten games (eight starts). Mullens has gained valuable experience in Kyle Shanahan’s offense over the past few years, which will help him moving forward with the Niners or another team.

Raheem Mostert (ankle) is likely done for the season.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says Mostert suffered another high-ankle sprain and is likely out for the next two weeks. Out of the playoff mix, it would be a surprise if the Niners bring Mostert back. Mostert’s year ends with 104 carries for 521 yards and two touchdowns along with 16 receptions for 156 yards and one touchdown receiving in eight games. The dynamic runner averaged 5.0 yards per carry this season, but he had trouble staying on the field due to various leg injuries.

The 49ers activated the 21-day practice window for Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle).
[UPDATE: The Niners say Garoppolo will not play on gameday.] This gives San Francisco an opportunity to potentially activate Garoppolo over the final two weeks of the regular season. The Niners have clearly been a much better team with Jimmy G on the field since he joined the team (just look at their record), but the team may still want to get another look at him ahead of potentially making a quarterback decision this offseason.

Eric Ebron (back) “should be OK” after leaving last night’s game, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Ebron was carted to the locker room, but it didn’t seem overly serious, and he should have a decent shot of suiting up in Week 16 for a big game versus Indianapolis. That said, struggles for the Pittsburgh offense combined with the matchup would leave Ebron as more of a low-end TE2 option.

Diontae Johnson has returned for the Steelers.
Johnson is a favorite target of Ben Roethlisberger’s, so it’s good to see him back on the field after not missing much time. Pittsburgh is down two touchdowns to Cincinnati in the fourth quarter.

Diontae Johnson leaves game with apparent foot injury.
This was a non-contact situation, and Johnson has dealt with foot issues in the past, so that’s what it looks like with no noticeable tweak of an ankle or knee. Johnson has a touchdown tonight, and hopefully he’s able to get back on the field soon.

Eric Ebron (back) has been ruled out for the rest of tonight.
This has been announced to begin the second half. Ebron had no receptions before leaving versus the Bengals, and hopefully he doesn’t miss much more time after tonight.
