Join now >The 49ers have signed Jordan Matthews to the practice squad.
Matthews is back in San Francisco yet again, as he’s been a player that the team obviously has comfortability with at receiver. If he gets promoted to the active roster, the former second-round pick wouldn’t be a recommended fantasy option on an offense that is centered around Brandon Aiyuk right now.

Joe Mixon (foot) will not play in Week 16.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor says they’ll see about the season finale next week, but it would be a surprise if Mixon gets back onto the field this season after missing the past several weeks.

The Jaguars plan to rest James Robinson during the week of practice.
[UPDATE: The expectation is still that Robinson will play on Sunday for Week 16 against the Bears.] The word is that Robinson might be out for Week 16 against the Bears, but that’s not locked in yet. However, Robinson is not expected to practice fully this week, and he ultimately may have a tough time playing on Sunday while dealing with an ankle injury if the team wants to take a cautious approach. The rookie running back does want to play, though, so we’ll see. Robinson has already set the record for most scrimmage yards from an undrafted rookie this season.

Josh Gordon has not satisfied all terms of his conditional reinstatement, according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times.
Gordon—who was supposed to return this week—is now ineligible to play or practice. This is obviously a very disappointing setback for a player that has struggled to get on the right path, and he may now not end up seeing the field this year. It’s unclear what terms Gordon violated and how he might get fully reinstated down the line, but he’s at least allowed to be around the team to hopefully provide some added support.

The 49ers are signing Josh Rosen, according to ESPN.
He’s being signed off the Buccaneers practice squad, where he’s been all season. Rosen had indicated that he wanted to stay in Tampa Bay because he felt it was a good situation behind Tom Brady, but the Niners actually might give him an opportunity to get on the field in Week 17 (though unlikely on such short notice). Overall, Rosen probably feels San Francisco is another good spot given the presence of Kyle Shanahan and some uncertainty with the quarterback situation moving forward, so he’s switching teams with a shot on the active roster across the country. The former No. 10 overall pick will look to develop with the Niners, and the Bay Area is frankly a fit for his personality.

The Bears signed Spencer Ware to the practice squad.
Ware is familiar with Matt Nagy’s offense, so this is a natural fit as the Bears look to build some more depth at running back.

The Bears activated DeAndre Carter from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
It’s good to hear Carter is feeling OK and will reunite with his teammates. Carter will mostly contribute on special teams for Chicago, so he’s off the fantasy radar for now.
