Wentz had a nice connection with new receiver Alshon Jeffery on a couple passes, but he appeared to lock on to him too much. While locking on to Jeffery, he missed two throws in the flat, with one that likely would’ve went for a touchdown. Still, Wentz threw the ball well and showed his athleticism against the Bills. Wentz and the starters should play 2-3 quarters in the dress rehearsal third preseason game a week from tonight against Miami.

Marquess Wilson catches three passes in first preseason game.
The Jets receiver had three receptions for 20 yards on his four targets (he did have a dropped pass). Wilson is battling for a roster spot in a young and deep receiving group.

Jay Cutler looks DeVante Parker’s way in first preseason game together.
Miami’s third-year receiver caught one-of-four targets for 16 yards, but he also had a 31-yard reception called back by a penalty. Cutler also looked Parker’s way on a jump ball situation. It was only less than a quarter of play, but it’s obvious Cutler is going to look his big receiver’s way this season. Given Cutler’s success with Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, along with the hype surrounding him, Parker has a chance to have a huge 2017 breakout.

Humphries held to three-yard catch in preseason opener.
The 24-year-old worked with the first-team offense ahead of Chris Godwin, but the rookie could end up pushing him in three-WR sets. Either way, Humphries is a solid player, but will do more for the Buccaneers than he will fantasy teams.

Jay Ajayi gets three touches in Dolphins second preseason game.
Miami’s workhorse had two carries for -2 yards and an 11-yard reception. The reception came on a check down by Jay Cutler, something we could see a fair amount of this season, which boosts both Ajayi’s floor and upside. Ajayi also exploded for a long run of 19 yards, but it was called back by a holding penalty. Ajayi played the same amount of time as Cutler in the game and is the clear offensive centerpiece for the Dolphins.

Robby Anderson catches 53-yard bomb in Week 1 of the preseason.
Anderson caught all three of his targets for 71 yards, leading the Jets in receiving against the Titans. The 53-yard catch came from quarterback Josh McCown on the first drive of the game, and he nearly broke a tackle and got into the end zone but was down inside the five-yard line. With Quincy Enunwa out for the season with a neck injury, Anderson is a number one receiver and has good upside—he could be targeted a fair amount this season.

Jay Cutler goes 3/6 for 24 yards in preseason debut with the Dolphins.
He didn’t put up any huge numbers in his limited action, but Cutler looked good—it didn’t look like he just arrived with the team a couple weeks ago. Look for Cutler to maybe get a half or so in the team’s third preseason game next Thursday against the Eagles.
