Darrius Heyward-Bey has been a very good special teams player for the Steelers over the last few years, while also stepping in as a situational deep threat as times.

JuJu Smith-Schuster practiced for the Steelers today.
The rookie receiver left Friday’s game with a concussion, so it’s great to see he quickly got through the concussion protocol and is back. Smith-Schuster is probably excited to get back on the field this Sunday for the team’s second preseason game.

Cobi Hamilton catches two long passes versus the Giants in Week 1 of the preseason.
Hamilton had two receptions for 72 yards, including a 28-yard touchdown from Joshua Dobbs. It’s good to see Hamilton get deep on a couple of occasions, as his big play ability will help keep him on the final roster for the Steelers.

Jets receiver/returner Lucky Whitehead broke his foot.
Head coach Todd Bowles said Whitehead will be out for “an extended period of time,” but they are unsure if he needs surgery. Lucky has been anything but that in recent weeks, as he had his dog kidnapped (but thankfully returned), he was wrongfully charged with shoplifting, he was cut by the Cowboys because they didn’t believe him, and now this. Whitehead, who appeared set to be the Jets primary returner, will almost certainly start the season on the PUP at the very least.

Fitzgerald Toussaint doesn’t find much room to run in Steelers preseason game.
Toussaint had six carries for 19 yards while starting and playing in the first quarter. Teammates Terrell Watson and Knile Davis were able to to more damage with their carries, but they’ll all get opportunities if Le’Veon Bell keeps holding out. The rookie James Connor is probably the favorite for the backup job behind Bell, though.

The Dolphins are signing receiver Trey Griffey, according to Adam Schefter.
Griffey, who spent time with the Colts earlier this offseason as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona, is the son of MLB Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. He’s an athletic player looking to crack the 53-man roster or practice squad for the Dolphins.

Terrell Watson plays well in Week 1 of the preseason.
Watson had ten carries for 44 yards and one touchdown for the Steelers. He’s a hard runner and is a big and athletic running back at 6’1″. The former undrafted back is battling to make the final roster and this was a good start.
