Join now >Bilal Powell returns to Jets practice.
Powell was dealing with a neck injury that kept him out for over a week, but he’s back and practicing in team drills today. Meanwhile, Matt Forte still isn’t practicing because of a hamstring injury. Both Powell and Forte are expected to split work evenly this season, but Powell is the first one back and practicing, so he might be able to seize the better end of the workload. Powell should be out there on Saturday night against the Lions in the team’s second preseason game.

Joshua Dobbs throws two interceptions in preseason debut.
The Steelers rookie was 8/15 for 100 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions versus the Giants. Dobbs started the game, but Antonio Brown and almost all of the other starters did not play. Look for Dobbs to get a good amount of playing time this preseason, as veteran Ben Roethlisberger and the other starters aren’t expected to play that much during the preseason.

John Ross is practicing fully for the Bengals.
The first-round rookie receiver is participating in 11-on-11’s in practice today, so it appears he is at or close to 100%. It’s still only Monday, so look for Ross to be out there in the Bengals’ second preseason game this Saturday against Kansas City. It’ll be interesting to see how much he plays and how he is used by the Bengals.

JuJu Smith-Schuster leaves first preseason game with a concussion.
The rookie receiver from USC came flying in to try and help make a tackle after an interception by Joshua Dobbs, but unfortunately suffered a concussion on the play. The good news is Smith-Schuster shows he goes all out and plays hard, just as he did in college. Hopefully Smith-Schuster gets back on the field soon.

Amari Cooper is practicing for the Raiders today.
Cooper has missed six straight practices and seven of the last eight, according to Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The third-year receiver was dealing with a leg injury of some sort, but it hasn’t been made what exactly the injury was. At least Cooper is back out there now, and hopefully he can stay out there as we inch closer toward the regular season. The former fourth overall pick is currently going at the top of the third round in fantasy drafts.

Ryan Tannehill is done for the season, according to Armando Salguero.
According to Salguero, Tannehill will be getting surgery on his torn ACL and will be placed on IR. The focus for Tannehill now shifts to 2018, as he will just rehab and do the best he can to help Jay Cutler and the offense with his mind. The good news is Tannehill should be 100% by next year’s training camp, but you have to feel for him after missing the playoffs last year due to the injury and now missing the entire 2017 season. Cutler is locked in as Miami’s starter for 2017.

Ryan Mathews is reportedly in Philadelphia today.
According to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News, Mathews is seeing his spinal surgeon today to see if he is 100% recovered from his neck operation. If he is, the Eagles will release him. It’s a matter of when, not if, the Eagles release Mathews as this point, and he could become an appealing option for teams in need of a running back. Hopefully Mathews gets healthy and is able to be released so he can play somewhere this season, assuming he wants to continue his playing career.
