Join now >Mike Triplett of ESPN doesn’t think Travaris Cadet will make the Saints roster.
Triplett obviously projects Adrian Peterson, Mark Ingram, and third-round pick Alvin Kamara as making the roster, but he believes Daniel Lasco will make the team as a fourth running back over Cadet. This will be determined on the field, but it’s worth noting because Cadet had a sizable role last season. Triplett writes the rookie Kamara will be the “joker” back, and Ted Ginn Jr. is expected to be the primary returner, so that could leave Cadet off the team. If Cadet does eventually become available by not making the Saints roster, a lot of teams would likely be interested in bringing him in.

Ben Roethlisberger is not at the Steelers’ first padded practice.
It’s an excused absence, according to Aditi Kinkhabwala. Hopefully everything is OK with Roethlisberger personally.
UPDATE: Unfortunately, a close friend of Roethlisberger’s passed away, Mike Tomlin told Ike Taylor.

Nick Hardwick: Hunter Henry is going to have a breakout season.
Hardwick was a long-time Charger and said on the team’s official site that the second-year tight end would breakout this year. The former Chargers center talked of Henry’s ability to play like a veteran and use his body to his advantage, and he also talked up Henry’s run blocking ability. Antonio Gates still gets it done at 37-years-old and will have a good role, but Henry is expected to step up as Philip Rivers’ top tight end target this season. While Gates’ presence might cap his upside, Henry is a nice target at the end of fantasy drafts.

Larry Fitzgerald doesn’t think it’ll be “that difficult” for David Johnson to get 1,000 yards both rushing and receiving this season.
The future Hall of Fame receiver was on Arizona Sports with Mike Jurecki said his teammate Johnson is “special” and thinks he can get it done. Fitz talked of DJ’s ability to do it all—run inside, run outside, catch the ball, run every route, pick up blitzes, etc. As has been the talk with Johnson and head coach Bruce Arians, Fitzgerald also expects a big workload for Johnson, stating: “I mean he should be getting 25, 30 touches a game and if he’s doing that, we’re going to be a force to be reckoned with.” Johnson has said on a few occasions that a personal goal of his is gaining 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in the same season, and it would not be at all surprising to see him do it. It’s hard to argue against him being the number one overall pick in fantasy drafts.

Seth DeValve “appears to have a significant role in Cleveland’s offense.”
Andrew Gribble of the teams’ official site wrote this when asked how much the tight end might be involved in the offense this season. DeValve is heading into his second season, and the hype has been there this offseason as he reportedly made a ton of plays. Cleveland drafted the talented David Njoku of Miami in the first round of the draft, but DeValve looks like he’ll certainly get a lot of playing time for the team. Hue Jackson likes using multiple tight end sets, so Njoku and DeValve could be a dangerous combo on offense. DeValve could offer solid touchdown potential, but his yardage is probably limited with Njoku (and Randall Teller) in the mix.

Christian McCaffrey receiving heavy praise early in training camp.
He’s reportedly been a very tough cover for the defense so far, and running back Jonathan Stewart said “there’s not anyone in this league that can cover him one-on-one.” McCaffrey was a human highlight real at Stanford, but he was also extremely productive there. It’s highly unlikely the Panthers will be disappointed with McCaffrey after selecting him with the No. 8 pick in the draft. Eventually, he’ll be the lead back and could handle a big workload, but with Jonathan Stewart in the mix it might not happen this season. However, at the very least, McCaffrey will have a big role in the passing game as a rookie.

Philip Rivers says Keenan Allen looks “as good” as he did before his injury.
Rivers was on “The Rich Eisen Show” and told Eisen, “he looks like himself… I really think he looks just as good as before he got hurt.” Rivers also said he doesn’t think his number one receiver will be any different and “you’ll see the same guy trot out there as last September.” Allen is now almost 11 months removed from his ACL tear last season, and he’s only 25-years-old; if he looks like he has in the past, it’d be great for Rivers and the Chargers. Currently going in the 5th round, Allen looks like he should be a solid value pick there.
