NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero says that it’s a “very mild calf strain” for Jones, who wants to play this Sunday against the Texans. However, Pelissero notes that it’ll be a game-time decision for Jones. This explains the star running back’s absence from today’s practice, and he’ll likely be listed as questionable when the final Week 7 injury report is out later. The good news is Green Bay kicks off in the early games this week, so Jones’ status will be known by 11:30 AM ET on Sunday.

Austin Hooper (illness) has been ruled out for Week 7.
[UPDATE: It’s appendicitis, and Hooper may also miss next week’s game, too.] Hooper’s illness isn’t COVID-related, but similar to Melvin Gordon last week for Denver, the new rules will keep him out this weekend. For those who are desperate at tight end, David Njoku and Harrison Bryant are both worth considering as plug-and-play options in Kevin Stefanski’s offense.

DeSean Jackson (ankle) is out indefinitely.
Jackson will be placed on injured reserve and miss at least a few weeks with his high-ankle injury. The Eagles have obviously gotten a very poor return on investment from their acquisition and extension of Jackson last year.

Joe Mixon (foot) will not play in Week 7.
Mixon was able to finish last week’s game with his foot issue, so it’s a bit of a surprise that he’s now being ruled out already ahead of the weekend for Week 7. Giovani Bernard will take over the lead role in the Cincinnati backfield, and he’s a solid fantasy option this week. Hopefully this isn’t a lengthy absence for Mixon, but we’ll see if more information becomes available ahead of next week.

Sam Darnold (shoulder) is expected to start in Week 7.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero says Darnold is expected to start “barring a setback” during practice today, so it looks like the former No. 3 overall pick will be back for the Jets after missing the past two games with his right shoulder injury. With New York likely to get a very high pick in this year’s draft, Darnold is facing a critical stretch over the final ten games of the season.

The Eagles believe DeSean Jackson suffered a high-ankle sprain.
This is probably much better than a knee injury, but it looks like a long-term injury for Jackson nonetheless. The veteran receiver will undergo an MRI today, which should help give a rough timetable for his potential return this season.

DeSean Jackson leaves game with apparent knee injury.
On a punt return late in the fourth quarter, Jackson took a late hit and had his knee twisted very awkwardly. Jackson was immediately very frustrated and threw his helmet before getting helped to the sideline without putting pressure on his leg. It looks like this could be a long-term thing for Jackson, who has had trouble staying on the field for the Eagles. Before leaving, the veteran receiver had three receptions for 34 yards and one carry for 12 yards.
