Join now >The Colts are acquiring Matt Ryan from the Falcons.
This certainly explains the patient approach the Colts have taken to the quarterback position this offseason. Like Baker Mayfield in Cleveland, Matt Ryan was probably not at all happy with his franchise going after a replacement in someone that has been accused of 22 sexual assaults like Deshaun Watson. Now, Ryan moves to the AFC and joins a very talented Indy roster. The Colts are getting a former NFL MVP that can still play at a high level but has been in some difficult spots in terms of personnel and the team around him over the past few years. The acquisition of Matty Ice should be great news for the entire Colts offense and team, and the AFC gets even more insanely loaded as a conference. After Ryan was taken third overall by the Falcons in 2008, he set numerous franchise records while throwing for 59,735 yards, 367 touchdowns, and 170 interceptions with a 120-102 career record. His 2016 MVP campaign was one of the best seasons in NFL history, and he also took the Falcons to the Super Bowl that year in the eventual 28-3 game and loss to Tom Brady and the Patriots. It’s a shame the extremely successful run for Ryan in Atlanta ends like this given that he might have stayed with one team his entire career before the Watson stuff, but at least the veteran quarterback lands in a good spot that should help him have a legitimate shot to get back to the Super Bowl.

The Bills are signing Duke Johnson.
Matt Breida signed with the Giants this morning, and the Bills were already unable to sign Commanders running back J.D. McKissic, so Johnson fits as a veteran addition to the running back group in Buffalo. Johnson had a strong stretch after joining the Dolphins last season, and the former Miami Hurricane will remain in the AFC East with the Bills.

The Giants are signing Matt Breida.
This should be a good landing spot for Breida after he again showed flashes in Buffalo last season, as he’ll be joining former Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll with the Giants. We’ll see if Daboll has a plan to get Breida more heavily involved on offense after he had success utilizing him toward the end of last season.

The Bills signed Matt Barkley.
Barkley spent three years with Buffalo from 2018-2020, and he’s back after a year away from the team. The former USC quarterback will be a good presence in the quarterback room for Josh Allen and company.

The Ravens are signing Patrick Ricard to a three-year deal.
Ricard is remaining in Baltimore, and the versatile player is expected to become the second highest paid fullback in football. Ricard fits right in with the style of play for the Ravens, but he’s not on the fantasy radar for 2022.

The Chargers are signing Gerald Everett.
After a stint with the Seahawks, Everett is headed back to Los Angeles, this time with the Chargers. The athletic tight end will be an intriguing fit in the Chargers offense, and he’ll look to become a reliable and versatile target for Justin Herbert this season.

Rashaad Penny is re-signing with the Seahawks.
After a scorching end to the 2021 NFL season, Penny was a very intriguing free agent runner. However, the thought had been that he would return to Seattle. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Penny could have gotten more money elsewhere, but the former first-round pick is back with the Seahawks on a one-year deal. In the post-Russell-Wilson era, the Seahawks are undoubtedly going to want to the run ball a ton, and Penny profiles as a big part of that this season.
