Jordan Reed | Retired TE

Jordan Reed (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 1.

Reed was able to practice on a limited basis, so hopefully he is close to returning and can play next week. The Redskins will start Vernon Davis on Sunday in a tough matchup versus the Eagles, so he’s not a recommended streaming option.

Andy Jones | Giants WR

The Lions are releasing Andy Jones with an injury settlement.

Jones was waived/injured by Detroit over the weekend, but his injury is seemingly minor. Perhaps he’ll land back with the Lions practice squad in the near future.

Cardale Jones | Free Agent QB

The Seahawks are signing Cardale Jones to their practice squad.

Jones, who was just released by the Chargers last weekend, lands in a good spot to develop. The Ohio State product turns 27 later this month.

Jake Butt | Retired TE

The Broncos placed Jake Butt on injured reserve.

This is tough news for Butt, who recently was said to have had a minor procedure on his knee. Butt has unfortunately dealt with three ACL tears dating back to Michigan, and we wish him the best of luck as he tries to get on the field and stay there.

Alfred Morris | Free Agent RB

The Cowboys released Alfred Morris, according to ESPN’s Todd Archer.

Morris is being released to make room for Ezekiel Elliott being added to the 53-man roster ahead of tomorrow’ game against the Giants. The veteran running back might need an injury to strike somewhere before he signs with another team.

Theo Riddick | Retired RB

The Broncos placed Theo Riddick (shoulder) on injured reserve.

Riddick is dealing with a shoulder injury suffered in the preseason, and Denver went ahead and placed him on injured reserve while keeping the ability to bring him back in eight weeks as a designated-to-return player. The former Lion can safely be dropped in any fantasy leagues he’s owned in.

Antonio Brown | Free Agent WR

The Raiders have released Antonio Brown.

Brown essentially left the Raiders no choice but to make this move. With the way Brown has handled himself all summer and in the past week in particular, this is not the least bit surprising, and it finally ends one of the strangest sagas in NFL history. There will now be a battle over Brown’s guaranteed money which was voided after a fine for conduct detrimental to the team, but it’s difficult to see him seeing one cent from the Raiders. Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock took a chance on Brown after the All-Pro burned bridges in Pittsburgh, and the troubled receiver already burned bridges in Oakland with his behavior. Brown’s talent could earn him another opportunity, but it’s difficult to see any team jumping at the opportunity to sign him. Brown should still be held in fantasy leagues in case he does land with another team, but it’d be understandable if you just want to cut bait with him.
