Jordan Matthews | Panthers TE

The 49ers are releasing Jordan Matthews.

San Francisco drafted receivers in the second (Deebo Samuel) and third (Jalen Hurd) rounds of this year’s draft, so this isn’t a surprise. Matthews has already been with four different teams since being drafted in the second round in 2014.

Keith Smith | Falcons FB

The Falcons signed Keith Smith, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

This brings Atlanta’s running back total to seven, so expect another move to be made soon (perhaps current fullback Ricky Ortiz being let go). Smith is expected to pave the way for Devonta Freeman and company.

Aldrick Robinson | Free Agent WR

The Panthers released Aldrick Robinson.

Robinson played well for Minnesota last season, so perhaps the Vikings are a team that will explore bringing him in. The veteran receiver is currently off the fantasy radar.

DeShone Kizer | Free Agent QB

The Raiders claimed DeShone Kizer.

Oakland kept three quarterbacks (Derek Carr, Mike Glennon, and Nathan Peterman) on their roster yesterday, but it looks like they’re going to have to make a tough decision and release one of Glennon or Peterman. Kizer has physical tools that Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock probably think they can work with.

Josh Doctson | Free Agent WR

The Redskins have released Josh Doctson.

A first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Doctson battled injured and struggled to reach his potential with 81 receptions through three seasons in Washington. He will certainly get another shot elsewhere, but now, the Redskins will move on with Paul Richardson and rookie Terry McLaurin as starters on the outside with Trey Quinn in the slot. This is also good news for Kelvin Harmon’s dynasty value.

Brian Hoyer | Free Agent QB

Brian Hoyer is signing with the Colts, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport says it’s a three-year, $12 million deal for Hoyer. The former Patriots backup has started 37 games in the NFL (for the Cardinals, Browns, Texans, Bears, and 49ers), and he’ll provide plenty of experience behind new Colts starter Jacoby Brissett.

Cameron Artis-Payne | Free Agent RB

The Panthers released Cameron Artis-Payne.

Payne has spent the last four years with Carolina since being drafted in the fifth round in 2015, and perhaps he’ll land back with the team in the near future. If not, other teams are likely to be interested in the 29-year-old running back.
