Join now >The Vikings are waiving Jake Browning.
Browning was an undrafted free agent, so he had an uphill climb to make Minnesota’s roster. The accomplished passer out of the University of Washington could be headed for the Vikings practice squad if he clears waivers.

The Broncos are signing Brett Rypien to the practice squad.
After Denver claimed Brandon Allen off waivers to back up Joe Flacco, the team is now has four quarterbacks in the building (Flacco, Allen, Drew Lock, and Rypien). Rypien will look to continue making a good impression on the practice squad.

The Ravens are waiving Jaylen Smith, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
After going undrafted this year, Smith had a tough task climbing the depth chart in Baltimore. The University of Louisville product should draw interest elsewhere, but he could land on the Ravens practice squad if not.

The Jets have released Charone Peake.
Peake caught 19 passes as a rookie, but was held to just three receptions over the past two seasons. The Clemson product will turn 27 in October.

Carlos Hyde has been traded to the Texans.
The Chiefs will get offensive tackle Martinas Rankins in return. It is a bit surprising that Kansas City was able to get anything for the veteran runner after he dropped to fourth on the depth chart, but this probably means Rankins—a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft—was going to be released by the Texans anyway. Overall, the landing spot is essentially a best-case scenario for Hyde after his stock was spiraling downwards, as he will be the goal-line back on a high-powered offense.

Jake Rudock is signing with Miami’s practice squad.
Rudock was just cut by the Dolphins yesterday, but it’s a good sign that they liked him enough to bring him back on the practice squad. Rudock will look to develop with the Dolphins this year.

AJ McCarron (thumb) is “good to go” for Week 1.
McCarron missed most of the summer with a thumb injury, but he’ll be ready to back up Deshaun Watson to open the season as expected. McCarron is one of the better backup quarterbacks in the league for 2019.
