WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Dexter Williams | Free Agent RB

Dexter Williams has a sprained MCL.

Williams is expected to be out at least three weeks, so he'll almost certainly be placed on injured reserve (forcing him to miss a minimum of three games) soon. It's unfortunate that Williams suffered the injury after getting an opportunity to play on Thursday night.

Dexter Williams (knee) is out for the rest of tonight’s game.

It’s unclear when Williams was hurt during his limited action in the first half, but it leaves a very thin Packers running back group even thinner for the rest of the night. The good news is Aaron Jones has been getting plenty of playing time despite his calf injury.

The Packers have elevated Dexter Williams from the practice squad.

Williams was thought to potentially be in line for the majority of early-down carries, but Aaron Jones (calf) is now expected to play, and reports suggest Tyler Ervin will see a good amount of work. Look for the Notre Dame product to mix in because Jones has had limited practice time, but Williams won't be a recommended fantasy option tonight.

The Packers have selected Notre Dame running back Dexter Williams in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Williams probably slipped a bit due to some off-field concerns including an arrest and suspension, but this is a good landing spot for him, as new head coach Matt LaFleur will likely have a fairly open competition in the backfield. Aaron Jones will remain the favorite to lead things, but Williams is a well-balanced runner that should be on the radar for owners in both redraft and dynasty leagues.
