WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

The Chargers have signed Lance Kendricks.

The veteran tight end will help fill in while Hunter Henry is out with a leg injury. Kendricks could potentially work himself into a fantasy option if he quickly clicks with Philip Rivers, but he's not a recommended fantasy pickup.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

The Patriots have released Lance Kendricks, according to Field Yates.

Kendricks was suspended for the opener, but with the Patriots signing Antonio Brown, they are expected to run a bunch of four- or even five-wide sets, so the tight end was expendable. Even if he gets another chance elsewhere, Kendricks is unlikely to be a fantasy contributor.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks has been suspended one game.

Kendricks violated the NFL’s substance abuse policy for a marijuana charge in 2017. The veteran tight end probably isn’t a lock for New England’s roster, so this doesn’t help his case as he looks to make the team.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

The Patriots are signing Lance Kendricks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Entering his ninth NFL season, Kendricks has the most experience among Patriots tight ends as the team looks to move forward without All-Pro Rob Gronkowski, so there's a chance he carves out significant playing time for his new team. The depth chart at tight end for New England is wide-open at this point, and blocking will undoubtedly be an important aspect in the competition for playing time. Kendricks has 241 career receptions, but his career-high in receiving yardage is 519 yards in 2012 with the Rams.

Lance Kendricks catches two passes in Week 16.

Kendricks gained 26 yards on his two receptions versus the Jets. Kendricks is not a highly-recommended fantasy option heading into Week 17.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks catches four passes against the Bears.

Kendricks gained 27 yards on his four Week 15 receptions. The veteran tight end is not a recommended fantasy option as the No. 2 tight end for the Packers.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks catches two passes in Week 12.

Kendricks gained 14 yards on his two receptions versus Minnesota. He’s not a recommended fantasy option at the moment.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks caught two passes for 12 yards in Thursday night's loss to the Seahawks.

Kendricks hauled in both of his targets as he saw extended playing time with Jimmy Graham (thumb) leaving the game in the first half, but Davante Adams dominated looks in the passing game. Even if Graham is out for Week 12, Kendricks wouldn't have a ton of upside against Minnesota.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks catches two passes in Packers' win.

Kendricks gained 24 yards on his two receptions against the Dolphins. He's not a recommended fantasy option right now, as he's more of a real-life asset for the Packers.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks caught two passes for 37 yards in Monday night's win over the 49ers.

Kendricks was able to rip off a couple gains against a defense that has been surprisingly vulnerable to tight ends this year, but he isn't a recommended fantasy option behind Jimmy Graham.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks scores against the Lions.

Kendricks caught two passes (on two targets) for eight yards and a touchdown in the Week 5 loss. The veteran tight end is not a recommended fantasy option at the moment.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks catches one pass in Week 4.

Kendricks' lone reception against the Bills went for five yards. The veteran tight end is not on the fantasy radar as long as Jimmy Graham remains on the field.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks catches one pass in SNF win.

It was a 13-yard reception to pickup a first down, which helped lead to Green Bay's first scoring drive (a field goal) in their comeback victory. Kendricks isn't a fantasy option with Jimmy Graham healthy.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks catches four passes in Packers' loss.

Kendricks gained 36 yards on his four receptions, and his nine targets tied a team high. He had a drop on a slant route for a would-be first down on a night the Packers struggled with drops. Kendricks isn't a fantasy option right now.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks gets five targets against the Browns.

Kendricks caught two passes for 11 yards in the Week 14 victory. Even with Aaron Rodgers likely to return next week, Kendricks isn't a reliable fantasy option.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks catches one pass in Week 13.

Kendricks gained 11 yards on his lone reception. His role isn't big enough to be a fantasy option at the moment.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks catches two passes against the Lions.

Kendricks gained 32 yards on his two receptions (three targets). He's a good contributor in real life, but Kendricks isn't a reliable fantasy option even if Martellus Bennett is out of the lineup for the Packers.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks catches one pass in Week 5.

Kendricks caught a 24-yarder on the second-longest play of the game for Green Bay. He's not on the fantasy radar because his role is not big enough for the Packers.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks catches one pass in Week 4.

Kendricks' reception didn't go for any yards. He'll probably help the Packers in real life more than he'll help your fantasy team right now.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks the tight end to own in Green Bay?

Kendricks caught two passes for 52 yards and one touchdown in the Packers' win over the Bengals, as Martellus Bennett was held to just 12 yards. The score was a one-yarder where he was uncovered, and he also had a 51-yard reception. As Bennett continues to struggle, Kendricks might see more playing time at his expense. Both are risky, but Kendricks might actually be the recommended fantasy play if you're going to play one of them against the Bears on Thursday night.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Lance Kendricks catches two passes in Week 1.

Kendricks had 18 yards on his two receptions. He's going to have a role at the tight end position alongside Marcellus Bennett, but he'll help the Packers more than your fantasy team.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

The Packers will use more two-tight end sets this season.

Head coach Mike McCarthy told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero there will be a "definite increase" in the use of two tight ends on offense, which will help create more potential gaps in the running game while keeping the flexibility of having one of the tight ends flex out wide. Free agent additions Martellus Bennett and Lance Kendricks—who could also provide some fantasy value with Aaron Rodgers throwing to him—should provide an upgrade in run blocking at the tight end position, which should be good news for the entire offense. McCarthy also recently talked of the importance of running the football. It looks like the Packers will attempt to be a balanced offense this season, something that should help the defense and help take pressure off Aaron Rodgers.

Lance Kendricks | Chargers TE

Tight end Lance Kendricks is signing with the Packers, according to Adam Schefter and Rob Demovsky.

The Packers just signed Martellus Bennett yesterday, but they aren't done. Kendricks will be added to a very deep tight end group for Green Bay. Kendricks went to college at Wisconsin, so that was likely part of the reason he wanted to play for the Packers. He won't be a good fantasy option next season, but will help out the Packers offense.
