Join now >The Cowboys have released Mike Weber.
There is talk of an extension being close with Ezekiel Elliott, so this is essentially the numbers game for Weber, who could end up signing with the practice squad. If Zeke signs, his backups will be rookie Tony Pollard and veteran Alfred Morris.

The Patriots placed Josh Gordon on the non-football injury list.
Gordon was eligible to join the team today, and he’s being placed on the NFI to start. New England is probably waiting for Gordon to get up to full conditioning before practicing with the team, but we expect he’ll be up to full speed pretty soon. It’d be nice to see Gordon out there during the preseason, but we’ll see what happens.

Jake Butt will undergo a minor procedure on his knee, according to NFL Network’s James Palmer.
Butt’s left knee—the one in which he recently tore his ACL—has been sore, so it sounds like he’s getting a cleanup procedure. Unfortunately, this is just another setback for the promising tight end prospect, and Butt will have a difficult time reaching his potential if injuries continue impacting his availability. Noah Fant is the only Denver tight end worth considering in redraft leagues.

The Patriots have released Maurice Harris, according to Field Yates.
Harris had drawn some buzz early in camp, but with Josh Gordon back, the team suddenly has plenty of options at receiver. The veteran should get another chance elsewhere, but he’s off the fantasy radar for now.

Mason Rudolph will be the Steelers’ No. 2 quarterback this season, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Rudolph played really well this season, and this was fully expected. We’ll see if Pittsburgh keeps Josh Dobbs on the roster or potentially attempts to move him in a trade. If Ben Roethlisberger goes down with an injury this season, Rudolph might provide QB1 upside in streaming situations.

The Patriots have released Dontrelle Inman.
Inman requested his release, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, likely because of the addition of the recently-reinstated Josh Gordon to the team’s receiving corps. Inman will now look to land elsewhere and compete for a larger role on offense for a team.

The Lions signed James Williams.
The undrafted running back from Washington State was the player that his college head coach Mike Leach basically said should’ve stayed in school another year. Williams caught 202 passes in his college career, and he’ll look to stick around with Detroit after bouncing around a bit since entering the league earlier this year.
