Join now >The Browns are signing Garrett Gilbert, according to Adam Schefter.
Gilbert—who was arguably the best quarterback in the AAF—is a former sixth-round pick of the Rams, and he will compete with veteran Drew Stanton to be Baker Mayfield’s backup. The 27-year-old completed two-of-three passes for 40 yards in his only NFL action, which came last season with the Panthers.

Robby Anderson is optimistic about his usage under Adam Gase.
Anderson says he “definitely” should become a 1,000-yard receiver this season, and he went into how he’s confident new Jets head coach Adam Gase will use him properly. The speedy receiver says it’s been frustrating that he’s been used as more of a straight-line deep threat because “you know that you should be getting at least a 10-targets-a-game receiver because you know the impact you have on the game and that’s not given to you. You’ve proven that. Now, I have a coach that’s going to utilize me as a player and not just make me run straight down the field.” Anderson also said this year is going to be “lights out” and that his “eyes are on the prize more than ever” as he enters a contract year. The oft-troubled receiver also says he hasn’t had to deal with “off-field allegations” this year (as if he didn’t put himself in those situations with arrests in the previous two offseasons). The fact that Anderson is throwing a ten-target-per-game number out there could be a concern in the locker room if things don’t work out that way this season, but there is optimism about his potential after the connection he showed with quarterback Sam Darnold toward the end of last season. Anderson will be a mid-round pick in fantasy drafts this summer.

The NFL is suspending former AAF running back Jhurell Pressley for two games, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport says this suspension is delaying Pressley’s potential signing with an NFL team after the AAF folded earlier this week, but that he has a couple of workouts next week and could sign now that his discipline has been handed down by the NFL. Pressley played for the Arizona Hotshots in the AAF, and he was the league’s leading rusher with 431 yards for an explosive offense that was second in points per game and yards per game through eight contests. Pressley doesn’t need to be owned in dynasty leagues right now, but we’ll see if he lands in a good spot in the NFL.

Kyle Shanahan says running back roles are “up to the players.”
On “The Adam Schefter Podcast”, Shanahan said that everyone keeps asking him about the running back roles like he’s “in charge of that or something,” adding: “It’s up to the players. They will define their roles. That’s kind of what’s unique about this.” The Niners head coach went on to say how every guy “can do a bunch of different things,” but that the one thing they all have in common is they have sub-4.40 speed. He also said that how last season, given all the injuries to the position, they might need all of them this year. It’s safe to assume the running-back competition in San Francisco is going to be wide-open this summer, with Tevin Coleman, Jerick McKinnon, and Matt Breida leading the group as things stand. The unique situation is completely up in the air, and it’s possible there isn’t much clarity before Week 1, but hopefully the preseason sheds some light on potential playing time in the regular season.

Rashad Ross is signing with the Panthers, according to Adam Schefter.
An AAF standout of the Arizona Hotshots, Ross has appeared in 22 career NFL games, catching nine passes for 192 yards and one touchdown. He also had a kick return touchdown. Now 29, Ross should be one of several AAF players to get another NFL opportunity, and he will hopefully make the most of it.

Texans head coach Bill O’Brien thinks there’s a chance Will Fuller (knee) is ready for training camp.
O’Brien was on “The Adam Schefter Podcast” and he told the ESPN insider that the Texans “feel really good about where Will [Fuller] is right now” coming off his torn ACL. It sounds like any work during the offseason program might be a stretch, but it’d be great news if Fuller is ready to go for the start of training camp this summer. Fuller tore his ACL at the end of October, so the start of training camp will be about nine months from the injury, which is about when many players are close to full strength. Week 1 doesn’t appear to be in any jeopardy for the explosive former first-round receiver.

Mark Walton has been arrested for the third time in three months.
A fourth-round pick of the Bengals last season, Walton is facing felony charges of carrying a concealed weapon, marijuana possession, and reckless driving from a high-speed car chase last month. Almost unbelievably, he tried escaping from police and was tasered, but somehow got up after pulling the electric prongs off and vanished. Police then went to his car, finding 14 grams of marijuana and a rifle with fully-loaded clips. In February, Walton got in a scuffle with a neighbor, and in January, he was arrested for marijuana possession. Overall, the Miami product seems to be doing his best to force himself out of the league, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Cincinnati releases him soon.
