Antonio Brown | Free Agent WR

Apparent Antonio Brown issues arise in Pittsburgh.

Multiple reports state that Brown was actually benched for yesterday’s win over the Bengals, which is why he was inactive for the game. NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala says there was “a little bit of a disagreement” between Ben Roethlisberger and Brown during last Wednesday’s walkthrough, and then Brown didn’t show up to the team’s walkthrough on Saturday. It’s worth noting that while the talk was Brown had a knee issue, the injury report officially listed him as “Coach’s Decision/Knee”, which was a bit peculiar. Kinkhabwala also says Brown left yesterday’s game at halftime, which is pretty stunning/ridiculous if true. It’s unclear if Brown is jealous/angry that JuJu Smith-Schuster was named the team’s MVP last week, but obviously something is up. We’ll see what Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin says about the situation, if anything, this Wednesday at his press conference. Especially with the emergence of JuJu as an elite receiver, don’t be surprised if the Steelers part ways with Brown this offseason.

Melvin Gordon III | Free Agent RB

Melvin Gordon (knee) was officially a limited participant in today’s practice.

This is a good sign for Gordon after he didn’t practice yesterday, and he’s still fully expected to play in Sunday’s playoff game at New England. Gordon might officially be listed as questionable when the final Divisional Round injury report is released tomorrow, though.

Rashaad Penny | Retired RB

Rashaad Penny rushed four times for 29 yards in Saturday night’s loss to Dallas.

Penny didn’t see much action behind Chris Carson, but he sparked the rushing attack when he was in the game. Seattle’s first-round pick obviously didn’t live up to lofty expectations as a fantasy asset in 2018, but he ended up averaging 4.9 yards per carry in the regular season, and there is certainly a chance he begins next year as a co-starter with Carson in more of an even backfield split. Penny turns 23 next month.

Cole Beasley | Free Agent WR

Cole Beasley (ankle) is officially listed as questionable for the Divisional Round.

Beasley didn’t practice all week while dealing with his ankle injury suffered in last week’s Wild Card Round victory over the Seahawks, but he can play without practicing. We expect Beasley will play, but it’s certainly not a lock. Beasley’s official status against the Rams will be known by around 7:00 PM ET on Saturday.

1/10/19 - 04:20 PM ET

Nick Mullens | Jaguars QB

Nick Mullens throws three touchdowns and three interceptions in Week 17.

Mullens was 23/33 for 282 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions in the Niners’ loss to the Rams. He didn’t start off the game well, but it was good to see him battle and put up 22 second-half points against a tough defense. Mullens’ season ends with 2,277 yards, 13 touchdowns, and ten interceptions in eight games. We are surprised C.J. Beathard didn’t get more time in the second half of the season, and it looks like Mullens might be Jimmy Garoppolo’s long-term backup moving forward.

12/31/18 - 03:05 PM ET

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (hamstring) is officially listed as questionable for Saturday’s playoff game.

Ware, like teammate Sammy Watkins, who is also listed as questionable, was a limited participant in practice all week. He looks like a true game-time call despite looking like a lock to be ready for the postseason after he was practicing fully at the end of the regular season. If Ware remains out, Damien Williams will handle most of the touches for the Chiefs against the Colts.

1/10/19 - 04:07 PM ET

Rod Smith | Panthers RB

Rod Smith gets one carry in playoff win over the Seahawks.

Smith gained one yard on his lone attempt in the Cowboy’s Wild Card victory. The carry came with under three minutes to go as he spelled Ezekiel Elliott for a carry. Elliott is handling almost all the backfield work for Dallas heading into the Divisional Round.
