Marcus Mariota | Commanders QB

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel says Marcus Mariota (right elbow) is “about the same” this week.

This isn’t a positive sign to start the week, as Mariota isn’t going to play if he doesn’t progress. Hopefully Tennessee’s franchise quarterback starts to make strides soon. Even if Mariota is able to play this week, it’ll be very difficult to trust him when he’ll potentially be splitting time with Blaine Gabbert at less than 100% against an elite Jaguars defense.

Kareem Hunt | Chiefs RB

Kareem Hunt gets 19 touches in Week 2.

Hunt carried 18 times for 75 yards and added one reception for five yards and a touchdown in the victory against the Steelers. Patrick Mahomes and his ten touchdowns have been the focus through two weeks, but teams will soon have to start focusing on the pass, which could really open things up for Hunt. Keep Hunt locked into lineups for Week 3 against the Niners.

Marquise Goodwin | Free Agent WR

Marquise Goodwin (quad) will be limited in practice today.

Goodwin didn’t practice all week last week, so this is a step in the right direction to get a limited practice in to start this week. Consider Goodwin questionable to face the Chiefs for now.

Patrick Mahomes | Chiefs QB

Patrick Mahomes tosses six touchdowns in Chiefs’ win.

Mahomes continues to light it up to start the regular season, helping lead Kansas City to a 42-37 win against the Steelers and a 2-0 record. The second-year quarterback was 23/28 for 326 yards and six touchdowns while also adding five carries for 18 rushing yards. After four touchdown passes to open the season, Mahomes now holds the NFL record for touchdown passes in the first two games of the season (10), passing a mark set by Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Charley Johnson. Expecting Mahomes to keep this pace up is obviously a stretch, but he’s clearly a very good QB1 option in perhaps the most talented offense in the league. Mahomes has major multi-touchdown upside every week. He gets the 49ers in Week 3.

Jordy Nelson | Retired WR

Jon Gruden expects Jordy Nelson will have “more and more” product as the season unfolds.

Gruden said: “[Amari] Cooper had a big week last week. [Jared] Cook had a big Week 1. Hopefully, Jordy has one this week.” Nelson has just five receptions for 53 yards through two weeks, but they were tough madcaps against the Rams and Broncos, so people shouldn’t be overreacting. The veteran receiver was one of the most hyped players this summer, and he should show he still has it in the coming weeks. Derek Carr is averaging nearly 300 passing yards per game to start the year, and we should take Gruden at his word that Nelson will get his share. Nelson is at least a solid FLEX option against the Dolphins for Week 3.

Jonnu Smith | Dolphins TE

Jonnu Smith doesn’t get a target in Week 2.

It appeared Smith played most of the game as the primary tight end for the Titans in the first game without Delanie Walker, but he wasn’t targeted in the passing game. Smith is best left out of fantasy lineups for now.

9/17/18 - 09:54 AM ET

DeVante Parker | Retired WR

DeVante Parker (finger) practiced fully today.

Dolphins head coach Adam Gase already said Parker could’ve played in Sunday’ win against the Jets, but the team might be letting the finger heal a little more. Parker should be a full participant in practice all week, but we’ll see how he’s listed on the official injury report when it’s released on Friday.
