The Saints have released quarterback Tom Savage.

This was expected to be the case if the team couldn’t find a trade partner for the veteran backup, as Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill both were set to make the team behind Drew Brees. Savage should be able to find a new home soon, especially if injuries hit the position.

The Texans waived Troymaine Pope.

Pope initially survived the final cut yesterday, but he unfortunately was cut today. Perhaps he’ll land back with the Texans again soon, but other teams will be interested if not.

The Colts have released wide receiver Kasen Williams.

Williams has drawn a lot of buzz in preseason action since entering the league, but he will again seek work elsewhere after being cut by Indy. He turns 26 in December.

The Chiefs releases Matt McGloin.

The veteran quarterback should find another team relatively quickly. Perhaps he’ll land back in Oakland where he used to play given the team has been unhappy with their backup quarterback situation.

The Patriots have released Brandon Bolden.

Bolden was also released last year on cut day before being re-signed, and the same could happen this year. Bolden is one of the better special team contributors in the league.

The Colts signed Reece Fountain to the practice squad.

Indy was able to get the fifth-round rookie receiver through waivers, and now they’ll develop him on the practice squad. Fountain has an opportunity to work his way into a role on the 53-man roster for the Colts.

The Lions have placed Zach Zenner on the reserve/injured list.

Zennwr injured his back in the last preseason game. He might eventually come to agreement on an injury settlement with the Lions if the injury isn’t too serious.
