Join now >The Chargers waived Tyron Johnson.
This is one of the biggest surprises of the day. Johnson posted a 20/398/3 line last season (19.9 yards per reception) while emerging as a dynamic deep target for Justin Herbert. Johnson should receive a ton of interest now that he’s available.

The Vikings are acquiring Chris Herndon from the Jets.
Minnesota is sending New York late-round draft compensation in return for Herndon, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Herndon is a talented player that never really found his footing for an extended stretch with the Jets, and he’ll help fill the void at tight end for as long as Irv Smith Jr. is out.

The Eagles released Travis Fulgham.
Fulgham started and played well in stretches for the Eagles, and he entered camp as a projected starter. But he’s now off the roster and will be looking for a new home after cut-down day. Fulgham could be an interesting addition for another team.

The Vikings are waiving Jake Browning.
This is another situation where Minnesota is hoping to push Browning through waivers so that they can add him back to the practice squad as depth behind Kirk Cousins.

The Jaguars are waiving Phillip Dorsett.
Dorsett had a 38-yard catch in the Jaguars’ last preseason game, and we thought he’d make the roster, but he’s a surprise cut. The veteran receiver makes plays when he gets opportunities, and he should land with another team soon.

Tim Boyle (thumb) is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
The news is said to be a best-case scenario, and Boyle is an obvious candidate for the PUP list to begin the season. David Blough should be Jared Goff’s backup until Boyle is healthy.

The Bears are waiving Dazz Newsome, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Chicago is hoping to bring back the rookie on the practice squad, but he’ll first have to clear waivers. Newsome fell behind after missing time in camp, so he’ll get a shot to develop with the Bears or someone else.
