Join now >The Panthers placed Elijah Hood on injured reserve.
Hood injured his knee in the team’s final preseason game. If the injury isn’t a season-ender, perhaps the second-year back and the team will reach an injury settlement that allows him to sign with another team.

Griff Whalen has turf toe.
Jon Gruden says Whalen could miss a couple of weeks, and Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal believes he could be a candidate for an injury settlement. The trade of Ryan Switzer earlier today could indicate Oakland is prepared to keep Whalen on the roster, though. Either way, Whalen is not a recommended fantasy option in standard-sized leagues.

The Broncos are waiving De’Angelo Henderson.
Henderson was a sixth-round running back from last year’s draft. After a strong preseason, Phillip Lindsay has won the third running back spot with the Broncos. Henderson will likely land on the practice squad if no other team claims him.

The Giants are signing Odell Beckham Jr. to a five-year extension worth $95 million.
NFL Network reported the deal was being finalized a short time ago, and ESPN’s Josina Anderson is saying it pays Beckham a max of $95 million, with $65 million guaranteed. After a shaky start to the relationship between the new Giants regime and their superstar receiver, the two sides—led by new head coach Pat Shurmur and Beckham—came to an understanding the last few months and worked things out for both sides. While he did not participate in preseason games, OBJ did not hold out from the team and is now being rewarded with the largest current contract for a wide receiver in the NFL. There wasn’t much of a question, but this confirms Beckham will be on the field for Week 1 in an exciting matchup against the Jaguars, and he’ll remain a part of the Giants franchise for a long time. OBJ is obviously a high-upside selection early in fantasy drafts.

The Broncos cut wide receiver Carlos Henderson.
Henderson was a third-round pick of the Broncos, but he didn’t even report to the team this summer. This was fully expected.

Sony Michel (knee) returned to Patriots practice, according to multiple reports.
Michel is likely practicing on a limited basis, but it’s still a good sign that he’s back on the practice field for the first time since August 1. The first-round running back now has just under a couple of weeks to get back in the swing of things for Week 1 against the Texans. Michel’s ADP has dropped since the injury, as New England’s running back situation remains a mystery—and there is not likely to be much clarity heading into the season. A couple of things that are certain is that Michel is a very talented player and plays in one of the league’s best offenses.

The Eagles cut Donnel Pumphrey, according to nFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Pumphrey has dealt with injuries since being drafted by the Eagles last year, so he simply didn’t get on the field enough to make the 53-man roster. He’ll now hit waivers, but he might return to the Eagles practice squad if no one else claims him.
