Join now >Brice Butler (foot) is not playing in tonight’s preseason game.
Butler’s foot issue is minor, but missing the game hurts his chances of winning the No. 2 received job for the Cardinals. Still, he’s currently second on the depth chart and should be ready to go for the team’s third preseason game next week.

Dalvin Cook is playing in tonight’s preseason game.
Cook is 100% recovered from last season’s ACL tear and has been 100% all summer, so the Vikings are putting him out there for the team’s third preseason game. Expect Cook to get just a few touches before exiting. He’s a high-upside selection early in fantasy drafts as a dynamic player playing in what should be one of the league’s better offenses.

Nick Foles (shoulder) is practicing.
Foles’ shoulder injury suffered in Thursday’s preseason game versus New England was indeed very minor, as he’s back on the practice field for the Eagles. Carson Wentz is progressing to 11-on-11 work, but he’s going to be a close call for Week 1 in less than three weeks. Foles is going to start this week’s preseason dress rehearsal game versus the Browns, and there’s a chance he’s under-center against Atlanta on September 6.

Julius Thomas has retired from the NFL after seven seasons.
Thomas wrote a letter in The Players’ Tribune saying that he’s going back to school to pursue a PhD. Thomas was a big part of the record-breaking Broncos offense led by Peyton Manning, as the athletic former basketball player broke out for 65 receptions for 788 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2013 before catching 43 passes for 489 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2014, working as an excellent red-zone target for Manning. Thomas left for Jacksonville in free agency before Denver’s Super Bowl 50 win after the 2015 season, and he played with the Jags for two seasons before playing with Miami last season. While he didn’t win a Super Bowl with the Broncos, Thomas caught Peyton Manning’s record-breaking 51st touchdown pass in the 2013 season. He was one of the best fantasy tight ends in the league during those 2013 and 2014 seasons with Denver.

Nick Foles’ shoulder injury is minor, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport says it’s minor and not to expect “any prolonged recovery.” So it sounds like Foles could potentially miss next week’s critical third preseason game, but thankfully it’s not a serious injury that would require surgery. If Foles is unable to play next week, Nate Sudfeld would draw the start, which would be valuable experience for him in case he’s the backup quarterback in the event Carson Wentz, who is expected to advance to 11-on-11 in practice next week, is not ready to start the season. It doesn’t sound like Foles is in jeopardy for Week 1, so he might draw the start to open the year against Atlanta if Wentz isn’t 100%.

Hue Jackson says he expects Antonio Callaway (groin) to return to practice this week.
The talented rookie did not play in last night’s preseason game against the Eagles, but his groin injury isn’t serious. Callaway might not play in the team’s fourth preseason game, as he might be treated as a starting receiver that they want to get ready for Week 1 against Pittsburgh. Callaway has some late-round appeal, particularly in deep leagues.

Sammie Coates suffered a concussion in tonight’s preseason game.
Coates will now enter concussion protocol and will have a week to get ready for the Texans’ third preseason game. Hopefully he’s feeling better soon. The fourth-year receiver is battling for a roster spot with Houston.
