Antonio Callaway was released with an injury settlement.
Callaway can now sign with another team, but the talented receiver might have to settle for a practice squad spot to open the 2021 season.
The Chiefs waived/injured Antonio Callaway.
NFL rosters need to be cut to 85 players today, and Callaway is part of the Chiefs' moves and would revert to the team's injured reserve if he goes unclaimed. There will likely be squads out there that will want to take a chance on the talented Florida product at some point.
The Dolphins waived Antonio Callaway.
Miami gave Callaway an opportunity to get his career on track, but they are now deciding to move on. The talented former fourth-round pick should get another chance with a new team at sone point, but he'll likely have to settle for a practice squad spot as the regular season comes to a close in a couple of weeks.
The Dolphins have promoted Antonio Callaway to the active roster.
Callaway was suspended for the first half of the season, and he will now get a shot to redeem himself with Miami. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him immediately start with Preston Williams (foot) out and Isaiah Ford in New England.
Antonio Callaway had his suspension expanded by four games.
Callaway, who was suspended last November, will now be eligible to return after seven games (rather than three) due to another violation of the NFL policy on substances of abuse. Hopefully the former Florida standout can get things together, but he’s currently off the fantasy radar outside of dynasty leagues.
The Dolphins are signing Antonio Callaway to the practice squad.
Callaway is suspended for the first seven games of this season. It's difficult for NFL teams to trust Callaway with a 53-man roster spot, but the former Browns receiver will now have a chance to develop on the practice squad with Miami. Callaway is an exciting talent, but he needs to show that he can be reliable. The practice squad might be good for him, and the Dolphins are a spot where he might be able to work his way onto the active roster and into a gameday role this season.
Antonio Callaway has signed with the XFL.
Callaway signed with the Tampa Bay Vipers, and this is a good look for the troubled receiver, as it could indicate he's now taking his football career seriously after lasting fewer than two seasons with the Browns. The former Florida receiver is from the state, so he gets to play close for home and will look to have a good showing in the XFL before likely getting another shot in the NFL this summer.
Antonio Callaway is facing a ten-game suspension.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says that Callaway is appealing the suspension, which is for another violation of the league's substance abuse policy. This, along with more reported tardiness this week, was obviously a factor in the Browns deciding to just move on from the 2018 fourth-round pick. While talented, other teams are unlikely to add Callaway to their roster while he deals with this likely suspension. The Florida product is not a must-hold in dynasty leagues. Hopefully he can get it together, stay out of trouble, and enjoy a productive NFL career.
The Browns waived Antonio Callaway.
After he was benched and inactive last week, apparently the Brown did not like how Callaway responded, and they are moving in another direction. General manager John Dorsey took a chance on Callaway in the fourth-round of the 2018 draft, but it did not work out. Rashard Higgins should now be locked in as the third receiver behind Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry for the rest of this season, and we'll see if a team claims Callaway off waivers.
Antonio Callaway is inactive for Week 10.
Callaway appears to be a healthy scratch, and the Browns are likely to use Rashard Higgins more as the third receiver behind Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry. This is a bit of a surprise for the talented receiver, and this might be a move by the coaches to take control with the players they want out there on gameday. Callaway does not need to be held in redraft leagues.
Antonio Callaway is facing a four-game suspension, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Callaway violated the NFL's substance abuse policy, and he's appealing the ruling. It'll almost certainly be difficult for Callaway to get his suspension overturned, so expect him to miss the first four games of the season. The second-year receiver has mostly not been running as a starter along with Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry this summer, and this pending suspension is likely a part of that. Callaway is talented, but there's a reason he lasted until the fourth round of the 2018 draft—and even a selection that high was considered a bit of a surprise considering his off-field issues. Unless he somehow wins his appeal, confirmation of the suspension should come at some point before Week 1.
Baker Mayfield talks up Antonio Callaway.
Nick Shook of the Browns' official website says Callaway has looked "sharp" at OTAs, and the team's franchise quarterback Mayfield said: "I think I can speak for a few people. We've been very pleasantly and very happy with how [Callaway] came back from the offseason ready to go." Mayfield also said how the team brought in Odell Beckham Jr. and re-signed some receivers, so Callaway is facing competition for playing time, which is bringing out the best in the second-year receiver. Keep in mind that it's May, but Callaway is a talented player, so it's a good sign that he's apparently worked hard this offseason as he looks to win the third receiver spot as a starter along with Beckham and Jarvis Landry in Cleveland.
Antonio Callaway scores in loss to the Ravens.
Callaway caught four passes for 79 yards, including a one-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 26-24 (which stood as Baltimore got a late interception). An up-and-down rookie campaign ends with 43 receptions for 586 yards (13.6 average) and five touchdowns for Callaway, who will have a chance to open 2019 as a starter if he can stay out of trouble over the next several months. The former Florida standout turns 22 next week.
Antonio Callaway held without a catch in Week 16 win.
He was targeted once. The rookie carries a very low weekly floor in an offense that spreads the ball around, but he could easily explode in the season finale. Still, it's not worth the risk against the Ravens.
Antonio Callaway scores in win over the Broncos.
Callaway caught five passes for 35 yards, including the go-ahead touchdown from 11 yards away. The rookie was benched for a little following a dumb taunting penalty, but he made up for it in a huge win, as the Browns are now 6-7-1. Callaway will be a volatile FLEX option that probably isn't worth considering in 10- or 12-team leagues for the fantasy championship.
Antonio Callaway targeted once in Week 14 win.
It was a reception for no gain. Callaway had been making chunk plays in recent weeks, but that obviously didn't carry over to Sunday. The rookie will look to get deep against Denver next week.
Antonio Callaway caught three passes for 84 yards in Sunday's loss to the Texans.
Callaway was able to set a season-high in yardage thanks to a career-long 71-yard reception, but he was tackled short of the goal line and lost a fumble on the play, which really hurt Cleveland in a comeback attempt. The talented rookie might be able to do damage against a struggling Carolina secondary in Week 14, but he won't be a highly recommended fantasy option.
Antonio Callway scores in Week 12.
Callaway caught four passes for 62 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals. The rookie receiver got open in the back of the end zone for an 11-yard touchdown after Baker Mayfield scrambled up and to the left before delivering a perfect pass for six. Callaway has had an up and down rookie season, so he's difficult to trust in fantasy lineups right now.
Antonio Callaway caught two passes for 39 yards in Sunday's win over the Falcons.
Callaway actually led the team in receiving on a day where Baker Mayfield spread the ball around, but the rookie doesn't need to be owned in redraft leagues as Cleveland heads into the bye. They'll take on the Bengals in Week 12.
Antonio Callaway catches three passes in Browns' loss.
Callaway gained 51 yards on his three receptions (five targets) against the Chiefs. This was the rookie receiver's highest receiving total since Week 4, so he's not a highly-recommended fantasy option right now.
Antonio Callaway (ankle) is active against the Chiefs.
Callaway tweaked his ankle in practice on Thursday, but it’s not holding him out for Cleveland’s Week 9 matchup with the Kansas City. The rookie receiver has upside, but he’s not a highly-recommended FLEX option in standard-sized fantasy leagues.
Antonio Callaway (ankle) is officially questionable for Sunday.
Callaway rolled his ankle in practice yesterday and didn't practice today. We'd think the rookie receiver will be fine for Sunday, but it's no lock. Callaway's status will be known by 11:30 AM ET on game day.
Antonio Callaway scores in Week 8.
Callaway was targeted six times against the Steelers, catching five passes for 36 yards and a touchdown. The score was on a lofted red-zone pass over a defender as Callaway used his body to get in position for the catch. Through eight games, the talented rookie receiver is on pace for 42 receptions, 472 yards, and four touchdowns. He's not a highly-recommended fantasy option right now, but we'll see if he can have a big second half of the season.
Antonio Callaway held to one reception in Week 7 loss.
It went for 14 yards, and Callaway saw just two targets. It's been a struggle for the rookie since Baker Mayfield took over as the starter, as he's been held in check outside of a 59-yard reception in Week 4. The upside is there, but Callaway won't be a recommended FLEX play in Week 8 against Pittsburgh.
Antonio Callaway catches two-point conversion in Browns' loss.
Callaway caught a two-point conversion on the fourth quarter, but overall he had just two receptions (on ten targets) for nine yards against the Chargers. The rookie receiver is very talented, but he's been inconsistent to start his NFL career. Week 7 against the Buccaneers is a potential blowup spot in a great matchup if you want to take a change on him as a FLEX option, though.
Antonio Callaway catches three passes in Week 5.
Callaway gained 22 yards on his three receptions (five targets) against the Ravens. The rookie receiver had another drop, and he simply hasn't been playing well recently. He'll try to get on track against the Chargers in Week 6.
Antonio Callaway caught three passes for 54 yards in Sunday's loss to Oakland.
Callaway was able to get loose for a 59-yard catch, but he was contained besides that. The talented rookie is averaging 15.5 yards per reception with one month of the season in the books, and he will probably become a bigger weekly factor as the season progresses. That said, he gets a tough draw next Sunday against the Ravens, so it's probably best to look elsewhere for fantasy owners.
Antonio Callaway caught four passes for 20 yards in Cleveland's win over the Jets.
Callaway was targeted on a deep ball by Tyrod Taylor in the first half where he easily got behind New York's secondary, but the pass was underthrown. The rookie also dropped another potential chunk play in the fourth quarter, but it didn't prevent the Browns from winning their first game since the 2016 season. Callaway gets a boost with Baker Mayfield under center, but he remains a volatile FLEX option in Week 4.
Antonio Callaway scores first career touchdown in Week 2.
Callaway caught a 47-yard deep ball for a touchdown late in the game against the Saints, and overall he had three receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown, along with two caries for seven rushing yards. With Josh Gordon set to be released or traded by the team, Callaway is locked into a huge role moving forward. The talented rookie receiver has upside as a pickup in fantasy leagues.
Hue Jackson says he expects Antonio Callaway (groin) to return to practice this week.
The talented rookie did not play in last night's preseason game against the Eagles, but his groin injury isn't serious. Callaway might not play in the team's fourth preseason game, as he might be treated as a starting receiver that they want to get ready for Week 1 against Pittsburgh. Callaway has some late-round appeal, particularly in deep leagues.
Antonio Callaway (groin) is not playing in tonight's preseason game against the Eagles.
The rookie might play in next week's preseason finale, but we might not see him again until the regular season. Josh Gordon's return complicates things a bit, but we expect Callaway will be a top-three receiver for the Browns with Gordon and Jarvis Landry. He's a talented player with upside in the late rounds of fantasy drafts.
Antonio Callaway plans to contest his marijuana charge.
Callaway’s lawyer told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero that they are trying to get the hearing for August 23 and plan to argue issues with paperwork are to blame for the receiver’s suspended driver’s lisence. However, the marijuana possession is the bigger issue, and it could lead to NFL discipline.
Antonio Callaway was cited for marijuana possession on Sunday morning, according to Tony Grossi.
So, just hours before the team traded Corey Coleman to the Bills, their new presumed starter along with Josh Gordon and Jarvis Landry could find himself facing a suspension to begin his career. Callaway was a Day 1 or Day 2 talent based on his on-field talent, but this shows why we thought it was a surprise that he was drafted as high as the fourth round by Cleveland earlier this year. Perhaps we will get an inside look at the situation on Hard Knocks tonight or next week, but Cleveland's loaded receiving group is suddenly very thin with Coleman in Buffalo and Josh Gordon still away from the team. Even a short suspension could knock Callaway off the radar in 10-team fantasy drafts.
The Browns have selected Florida wide receiver Antonio Callaway with the 105th pick (fourth round) of the 2018 NFL Draft.
This is a bit of a surprise. Antonio Callaway has first-round talent, but many thought he might not even be drafted after it was revealed he failed a drug test at the Combine, which only added to the list of off-field issues for the troubled wideout. However, if he can stay on the field, Callaway will likely be an absolute steal for a young and talented Browns roster that could compete quicker than people think. He probably won't make a big impact behind Josh Gordon and Jarvis Landry as a rookie, but Callaway is an interesting pick in dynasty league if you think you can trust him. The Browns clearly do.
