Join now >Derrius Guice leaves preseason game with a knee injury.
Guice went down on a run and was being looked at by trainers, but he was able to get up and walk around on the sideline and appeared to be in good spirits. The Redskins say Guice is being evaluated for a knee injury. Before leaving, Guice looked unsurprisingly impressive on his carries. His night is probably done, and now we just need to hope this knee injury isn’t anything serious.

Antonio Callaway plans to contest his marijuana charge.
Callaway’s lawyer told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero that they are trying to get the hearing for August 23 and plan to argue issues with paperwork are to blame for the receiver’s suspended driver’s lisence. However, the marijuana possession is the bigger issue, and it could lead to NFL discipline.

Marcell Ateman has been a “go-to target for all three of the quarterbacks throughout camp,” according to the team’s official site.
Writer Kyle Martin was discussing players he believes can make the 53-man roster, and he continued about Ateman: “He offers a special combination of size and athleticism, which helps him create separation from his defenders.” That sounds a lot like what we thought of the rookie in the pre-draft process, as he’s a big-bodied receiver that can still run really good routes to get open, but he somehow dropped to the seventh round before Oakland scooped him up. The Oklahoma State product is still a longshot to offer redraft value this year, but with Martavis Bryant struggling and Gruden previously saying that “Ateman makes plays every day,” there is definitely a chance he works his way all the way up to the No. 3 spot on the depth chart with a strong preseason. Dynasty owners would be wise to target Ateman before others catch on to him.

The Patriots have revised Tom Brady’s contract, according to multiple reports.
Due to make $15 million in salary this season, the Patriots have added $5 million in 2018 incentives to Brady’s deal. These incentives might not come out, but there’s probably a good chance he hits them all. Brady is obviously underpaid every year as the best player in the league, but he wants to win more than anything—and frankly he’s probably not struggling in the cash department. These incentives shouldn’t do anything to make Brady more laser-focused than he already is. There’s no reason to believe Brady won’t be an elite QB1 this season, despite hitting 41 years old.

Anthony Lynn says he wants to get Melvin Gordon more involved as a receiver.
ESPN’s Dan Graziano says the Chargers second-year head coach told him that “one of his regrets in his first year (as head coach) was not getting Gordon more work in the passing game.” We definitely agree that Gordon can be involved more as a receiver, as he’s one of the best pass-catchers out of the backfield in the league—which he’s shown with soft, reliable hands and solid route-running. Meanwhile, Gordon said that he’s happy with new center Mike Pouncey at center, and he believes he can have more explosive plays because of Pouncey’s ability to get to the second level. Gordon is again set for a big workload on one of the league’s better offenses, and he’s a no-doubt RB1 in 2018.

Marquise Goodwin could be San Francisco’s clear number one receiver.
ESPN’s Dan Graziano visited 49ers training camp, and he says the teams views Goodwin “as their clear No. 1 wide receiver.” Goodwin played like a number one receiver when Jimmy Garoppolo took over for the Niners last season, and he was on pace for over 1,200 yards over the final eight games of the season. Also, Goodwin has reportedly had an excellent training camp, and Joe Fann of the team’s official site previously said the speedster “looks like a bona fide No. 1 WR.” Goodwin is one of the best values in 2018 fantasy drafts, though his ADP could skyrocket in the coming weeks.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano doesn’t think Jerick McKinnon will be a bell-cow for the Niners.
Graziano took a trip to a few different training camps and gave some fantasy tips based on what he was hearing. Graziano believes “Kyle Shanahan definitely has a role in mind for McKinnion,” but doesn’t think it’ll be a “bell-cow running back” role. This is just the opinion of one person, but it’s worth noting that Graziano says the Niners “believed the running back market was depressed,” so they don’t think they spent too much on McKinnon even if he’s not in a workhorse role—and the price tag was a big reason a lot of people believed McKinnon could be in line for a heavy workload. The Niners have made it clear they are high on McKinnon, though, and he’s the clear top option in the backfield.
