Alfred Morris | Free Agent RB

Report: Alfred Morris will start in place of Ezekiel Elliott.

According to NFL Network’s Jane Slater, says “a source informed of the decision” says it will be Morris as the starter over Darren McFadden with Elliott suspended. Slater also adds that Rod Smith, and not McFadden, will be the number two guy behind Morris. Smith has ran will when given opportunities, so it’s not that surprising he’d get the nod over McFadden, who has been inactive all season. You can instantly insert Morris into your fantasy lineup starting this week against the Chiefs as a very good option behind that monster offensive line of the Cowboys, and it wouldn’t be a shock to see Morris in the top ten running backs over the next six weeks (assuming Elliott remains suspended for that time).

Cody Latimer | Free Agent WR

Cody Latimer catches two passes in Week 9.

Latimer gained 51 yards on his two receptions, making some nice catches including a leaping 32-yarder late in the game. The former second-rounder is not a fantasy option right now.

Andrew Luck | Retired QB

Andrew Luck (shoulder) has been placed on injured reserve.

Luck will officially miss the entire season for Indianapolis. The 28-year-old quarterback just couldn’t get healthy after offseason shoulder surgery, and at 2-6, the Colts have decided to end his season by placing him on IR. Luck is expected to be 100% healthy for training camp in 2018, and hopefully the offensive line is bolstered by then to protect the franchise quarterback, as he will already be entering his age-29 season. Fantasy owners that were holding onto him can obviously drop him, but Luck should be back to his old self next season. There’s still a long way to go, but he will probably be worth a mid-round selection as a solid QB1. The Colts will start Jacoby Brissett for the rest of the 2017 season.

Evan Engram | Broncos TE

Evan Engram scores again in blowout loss.

Engram caught four passes for 70 yards and a touchdown, a 10-yard reception with the Giants down 48-10 in the fourth quarter. The rookie had now scored in three-straight games, and he’s on pace for an impressive 68/824/8 line through eight games. He’s probably the only New York player to start against the 49ers in Week 10.

Kenyan Drake | Free Agent RB

Dolphins OC: We are going “by committee” at running back.

The team’s offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen said they are using a committee after the trade of Jay Ajayi, and that committee will be Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams. It sounds like Senorise Perry will only mix in behind those two, so he’s not a recommended fantasy pickup at the moment. The committee will likely start with Drake as the early-down guy and Williams as the passing-down guy, but it’s possible one of them emerges as the clear leader in the backfield. For this Sunday night against Oakland, they are both FLEX options, with Drake being the preferred play in standard leagues.

Demaryius Thomas | Retired WR

Demaryius Thomas snaps scoreless streak in Broncos’ loss.

Thomas hadn’t scored in the last 13 games, but that streak finally ended against the Eagles. DT was targeted a team-high 12 times by Brock Osweiler in the loss, catching eight passes for 70 yards and a touchdown. Finally, the Broncos got Osweiler involved on some short passes and screens, and his touchdown came on a screen by the goal line. Thomas nearly had another touchdown earlier in the game on another short pass that he was brought down just short after not being able to keep his balance. His next matchup is against Bill Belichick and the Patriots, a team DT is averaging 98.6 yards per game against—though it’s possible New England tries to take him out of the game.

David Johnson | Free Agent RB

David Johnson says he’s “staying optimistic” about his wrist injury.

Just a couple days ago, Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he doubts Johnson will be able to return this season. Johnson did say he won’t be able to return until his wrist is 100% recovered, while adding “no one knows” if he’ll be able to return yet. Until Johnson gets his cast off, which he will have on for a couple more weeks, it’s difficult to tell how the wrist is progressing. If Johnson does end up getting to 100%, he’d probably be on the field even if Arizona is out of playoff contention—but it’d have to be a true 100% where he’s also in full football shape and won’t risk any injury that could hurt him moving forward into 2018. We recommend keeping Johnson on fantasy rosters as a potential playoff difference-maker if possible.
