Matt Breida | Free Agent RB

Matt Breida gets most work for 49ers in Week 5.

The undrafted rookie played more than Carlos Hyde, carrying ten times for 49 yards while adding three receptions for 22 yards against the Colts. It was surprising to say the least, but Breida played well in the game. We wouldn’t expect Breida to get the majority of the work moving forward, but he’s someone to keep an eye on.

Brian Hoyer | Free Agent QB

Brian Hoyer plays well, but 49ers drop to 0-5.

Hoyer was 29/46 for 353 yards and two touchdowns versus the Colts. The first score was a slant route to rookie tight end George Kittle, and the second was on a shuffle pass to fullback Kyle Juszczyk. The veteran quarterback has a pretty good matchup against a Redskins team that will be without top cornerback Josh Norman in Week 6, but you can probably find better quarterback options in your starting lineup in standard 10- or 12-team leagues.

10/9/17 - 10:41 AM ET

Josh McCown | Free Agent QB

Josh McCown leads Jets to 3-2 record with 17-14 victory over the Browns.

McCown was 23/30 for 194 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. That’s three wins in a row for New York, and the veteran quarterback is playing well with limited skill-position players around him. McCown and the Jets host the Patriots in Week 6 with first place in the AFC East on the line. He’s not a recommended fantasy option.

10/9/17 - 10:40 AM ET

Tyler Boyd | Free Agent WR

Tyler Boyd catches two passes in Week 5.

Boyd gained only six yards on his two receptions. The second-year receiver is off the fantasy radar right now.

10/9/17 - 10:35 AM ET

Alex Erickson | Patriots WR

Alex Erickson gets two touches in Week 5.

Erickson had a -6-yard carry and a 12-yard reception. He’s a contributor to the Bengals, but he’s not trustworthy in fantasy lineups.

10/9/17 - 10:33 AM ET

Tyler Kroft | Free Agent TE

Tyler Kroft catches four passes in Week 5.

Kroft was targeted five times in the game against Buffalo, gaining 38 yards on his four receptions. Assuming Tyler Eifert (back) isn’t back by Week 7, Kroft will be in the streamer conversation at tight end in Week 7 versus Pittsburgh.

10/9/17 - 10:33 AM ET

A.J. Green | Retired WR

A.J. Green goes off in Bengals’ win over the Bills.

Green caught seven of 13 targets for 189 yards, including a 77-yard touchdown, against the Bills. Though he had to deal with impressive rookie cornerback Tre’Davious White, he was able to get behind him and the defense for the long touchdown—his fifth 75-yard+ touchdown of his career. He did lose a fumble in the game, but fantasy owners will certainly be happy with the huge performance. Green will be a great WR1 when the Bengals return from their bye week to face the Steelers in Week 7.
