Join now >Antonio Brown (knee) has been ruled out for the NFC Championship.
Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians had said that Brown would be able to play without practicing, but his knee is apparently in bad enough shape that they’re ruling him out ahead of the weekend. This is a tough blow for Tampa Bay in a game where they’ll need all hands on deck, but Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson will step up with Brown out. AB will hopefully be ready to play if the Bucs advance to Super Bowl LV.

Vance McDonald has retired from the NFL.
This is a slight surprise, as McDonald can still produce at 31 years old (this June), but he’s going out after a solid eight-year career. The 2013 second-round pick of the Niners played four seasons in San Francisco and four seasons in Pittsburgh, recording 181 receptions for 2,036 yards and 15 touchdowns. The Rice product also had some memorable highlight plays throughout his career, particularly on runs after the catch. We wish McDonald luck as he transitions to his post-playing life.

Patrick Mahomes (concussion/toe) was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice.
Head coach Andy Reid said his starter took all the snaps, which is an obvious tell that he will be good to go on Sunday barring some sort of unforeseen setback. We expect Mahomes might log a full practice to close out the week ahead of the AFC Championship.

The Steelers are expected to sign Dwayne Haskins, according to multiple reports.
Haskins’ visit with the team is apparently going well, and (barring any last-minute issues or a poor visit with the coaches) the 2019 first-round pick will land with one of the league’s top franchises after things did not work out in Washington. This signing is a bit of a surprise considering the Steelers have former third-round pick Mason Rudolph in the building behind Ben Roethlisberger, but the team must have liked Haskins coming out of Ohio State. Haskins will look to learn behind Roethlisberger and could have a shot to win the starting job whenever Roethlisberger retires.

Antonio Brown (knee) will be a game-time decision for the NFC Championship.
Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians says that while Brown will be a game-time decision, the veteran receiver does not need to practice to play on gameday. Expect AB to rest today and tomorrow with a chance to play on Sunday. Brown will almost certainly be listed as questionable when the final injury report is out tomorrow, but we’ll let you know if anything changes.

Update: Patrick Mahomes (concussion/toe) was officially limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Mahomes apparently took all the snaps, but it was more of a walkthrough than an actual practice, so the team labeled him as a limited participant. Still, the superstar quarterback is expected to be cleared to play this weekend assuming there are no setbacks.

Patrick Mahomes (concussion/toe) was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.
This is obviously a great sign for Mahomes’ status for the AFC Championship Game, and it sounds like he’ll be out there barring some sort of setback. Participating fully in practice is also a positive for Kansas City in general as they hope to be on point this weekend for what could be a shootout.
