The special teams ace isn’t ready to go to open the NFL season against the Chiefs. It’s a key loss for New England, as they’ll need others to step up in Slater’s absence.

Jared Goff impresses in Rams’ 46-9 win over the Colts.
Goff was 21/29 for 306 yards and one touchdown, which was a nice throw to Cooper Kupp from 18 yards out. Unfortunately, his upside was capped by a couple defensive touchdowns and the Colts inability to put puts on the board, but it was a promising performance by Goff and the first step to proving “experts” calling him a “bust” wrong. Los Angeles will host the Redskins in Week 2.

Josh Doctson doesn’t get targeted in Week 1 loss to the Eagles.
The second-year receiver worked as the fourth receiver and was barely noticeably in the game, getting far less than 50% of the snaps. It’s unclear why the talented 2016 first-round selection isn’t getting more time, but the Redskins appear to like Ryan Grant as a top three receiver with Terrelle Pryor Sr. and Jamison Crowder. Doctson is just a bench hold right now.

Ty Montgomery racks up 23 touches in Week 1.
23 touches was a career high for Montgomery, who is obviously the clear lead guy in Green Bay. Montgomery had 19 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown, along with four receptions (on four targets) for 39 yards. He suffered an ankle injury during the game but got it taped up and only missed a few plays. Playing in one of the best offenses as the number one back (with impressive ability) Montgomery is a clear RB1 each week.

Phillip Dorsett is active for the Patriots.
Less than a week after being acquired from the Colts for quarterback Jacoby Brissett, Dorsett is out there for the NFL’s 2017 kickoff game. Malcolm Mitchell (knee) being sent to IR means Dorsett is at least the number four receiver for New England tonight. He has some major boom potential, but it’s extremely risky to put him in your fantasy lineup.
9/7/17 - 07:33 PM ET
Kamar Aiken caught one pass for three yards in his Colts debut.
Aiken has almost no fantasy value until Andrew Luck returns, so he can obviously stay on the waiver wire. Even then, Luck hasn’t had a chance to build chemistry with the free-agent signing, so he’s unlikely to be a fantasy contributor in 2017.

Jamison Crowder struggles in Week 1 against the Eagles.
The Redskins slot receiver caught three-of-seven targets for only 14 yards, while also losing a fumble on a punt return. Crowder was targeted over the middle by Kirk Cousins, which is a good sign, but they couldn’t really connect on anything and one of the passes was poorly thrown and intercepted by the Eagles. Crowder will look to bounce back in Week 2 against the Rams next Sunday.
