Paxton Lynch | Free Agent QB

Paxton Lynch is out a few weeks with a shoulder sprain, according to James Palmer.

Lynch landed directly on his right arm in Saturday night’s preseason game against the Broncos. It’s possible the Broncos bring in another quarterback, but Kyle Sloter looked very good in the Week 3 preseason game and should be the backup to Trevor Siemian to open the year. Lynch will try to get healthy so he can return and be Siemian’s backup and ready to go in case the Broncos need him.

Marcus Mariota | Commanders QB

Mariota and the first-team offense plays deep into the second half on Sunday.

Head coach Mike Mularkey did not like what he saw from his guys, as they were shutout in the first half, but they eventually found the end zone to get points on the board. Mariota was 12/21 for 193 yards and one touchdown, which looked like a toss to Derrick Henry but was actually a forward pass. He missed a lot of receivers, but still put up decent numbers, showing Mariota has the look of an elite fantasy quarterback in 2017.

Jarvis Landry | Free Agent WR

Dolphins head coach Adam Gase said he told Jarvis Landry there is “no chance” Landry gets traded.

This wouldn’t be a story if not for a report from The Ringer that the Dolphins were “seriously” listening to offers for Landry in addition to telling teams they will move him for the right price. While Landry is entering a contract year and DeVante Parker could be set to emerge as a number one receiver, it doesn’t make much sense for the Dolphins—who are trying to make the playoffs again and take another step forward—to trade one of their best players. Of course, if the Dolphins are blown away with a trade offer they’d probably trade Landry—just as most teams would do with almost every player. But this appears to be a fake news report about Landry being on the trade block, and he should be in Miami come Week 1.

DeShone Kizer | Free Agent QB

The Browns have named DeShone Kizer the starting quarterback for Week 1.

This was fully expected after Kizer started the Browns’ third preseason game. The second-round pick only completed 6/18 passes last night in the start, but head coach Hue Jackson must have seen enough to make things official. We still think Cody Kessler is the best quarterback on the roster, but it appears Jackson is all-in on the rookie. Expectations should be tempered after Kizer struggled to win at Notre Dame, and Cleveland has a tough schedule to start the season, including against Pittsburgh in the opener.

Taylor Heinicke | Chargers QB

Taylor Heinicke leads game-winning drive in Vikings’ third preseason game.

After sitting almost the entire game, Heinicke entered to start the Vikings’ final drive, with the team down seven. He took the team 63-yards down the field, where Terrell Newby scored from one-yard out the make the score 31-30. The Vikings went for two and Heinicke scrambled and dove for the pylon for a walk-off game-winning two-point conversion in front of the home crowd in Minnesota. The team mobbed Heinicke, which was cool to see. Heinicke will be back out there on Thursday night in the Vikings’ preseason finale.

Jordan Howard | Free Agent RB

Jordan Howard rushed 12 times for 45 yards in the Bears’ third preseason game.

He looks ready for the regular season, as he consistently picked up tough yardage against a stingy Titans front. Howard should be a first-round pick in standard leagues.

8/27/17 - 03:38 PM ET

Rodney Adams | Bears WR

Rodney Adams scores in Vikings’ third preseason game.

Adams caught three-of-five targets for 35 yards and a touchdown in the exhibition versus San Francisco. The 2017 fifth-rounder is a safe bet to make Minnesota’s final roster, but he’ll almost certainly be out there on Thursday night in the team’s final preseason game.
