Join now >Adam Gase: “Right now, Matt Moore is our quarterback.”
After Dolphins practice today, Gase was asked about the situation with Tannehill and said “right now, Matt Moore is our quarterback. We’ll see where we go from there because I’ve got to figure what’s going on with Ryan (Tannehill).” The “right now” obviously leaves them open to making a move for another quarterback. It’ll probably come down to whether Tannehill gets season-ending surgery or if he tries to rehab and return in several weeks. If they do opt for surgery for Tannehill, current FOX broadcaster Jay Cutler might be the way to go, given his history with Gase when he was his offensive coordinator in 2015 with the Bears.

Sammie Coates had arthroscopic knee surgery, according to Jeremy Fowler.
The Steelers receiver hurt his knee while training during the offseason, according to Fowler. Coates reportedly could return in mid-August, but this is obviously not ideal as he tries to bounce back from last season when he dealt with injuries. Still, the talented third-year player should be able to make the team, this just hurts his chances to have a big role on offense.

Sean McVay: Malcolm Brown “is a guy we can depend on.”
The Rams head coach was asked if anyone has stepped up with Lance Dunbar out indefinitely with a knee injury, and McVay made it clear he is very happy with Malcolm Brown, stating that is he “pleasantly surprised” with him. The third-year back from Texas has “kind of got a quiet confidence about himself, where he just goes about his business, very reliable, knows exactly what to do and how to do it and he is a guy that we can depend on,” McVay said. It’s still early, but it appears Brown will be the primary early-down backup to Todd Gurley.

RGIII leaves workout with Chargers without a deal.
Ian Rapoport says says it was a “positive workout” for Robert Griffin III, who’s trying to find a team after he spent one season with the Browns. RGIII, while he’s had trouble staying healthy, is definitely the best quarterback available right now, and he could get a call at some point during the preseason if the Chargers don’t end up signing him soon.

Rico Gathers catches 26-yard TD in Hall of Fame Game.
The former Baylor basketball player displayed his athleticism, catching three passes for 59 yards and the touchdown. Gathers was basically a red shirt player last year for Dallas, but he’ll look to make the 53-man roster this year and contribute on game days. Keep an eye on Gathers in dynasty leagues.

Ravens running back Kenneth Dixon is out for the season, according to Ian Rapoport.
The second-year back had surgery on his meniscus today, and he had to have it fully repaired instead of trimmed. This is a really tough break for both Dixon and the Ravens. Terrance West is now fully locked into the early-down role for Baltimore, with Danny Woodhead as the passing down back. Woohead could also chip in for more work on early downs, but West could push for 15-20+ carries per game. Look for West’s ADP to rise over the next several weeks. It’s also possible the team brings in another veteran back such as Ryan Mathews, if and when he is released by the Eagles. As for Dixon, while his season is over before it starts, full meniscus repairs are considered better long-term than trims, so Dixon will look to get 100% for next season.

Lance Dunbar is out indefinitely with a knee injury.
He has been placed on the PUP list. It’s unclear the extent of the injury, but he was expected to be the passing-down back for Sean McVay. If Dunbar ends up being out for a while, Todd Gurley could end up being the guy in passing situations as well. The Rams could also opt to bring in another back if Dunbar’s knee injury is serious.
