Kelly (knee) has been placed on the PUP list.

The Broncos drafted the talented (but troubled) quarterback with the last pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, and he is likely looking at a redshirt year after he tore his ACL and meniscus last November. The nephew of Hall of Famer Jim Kelly, Chad has a big arm and could have been a Day 1 or Day 2 pick if not for his injury and off-field concerns. Denver drafted Paxton Lynch in the first round in 2016, but Kelly is someone to keep an eye on for 2018 and beyond.

Kerwynn Williams scores in Hall of Fame Game.

Williams scored the opening touchdown of the preseason when he punched it in on the Cardinals’ opening drive. Williams had five carries for 18 yards in the game. He’s competing for the primary backup spot behind David Johnson, though veteran Chris Johnson didn’t play in the game and could be in the lead for that job.

There is a warrant for Lucky Whitehead’s arrest for shoplifting, TMZ reports.

According to TMZ, Whitehead stole from a convenience store. He was arrested on June 22 and didn’t show up to his ordered July 6 court date. Whitehead will reportedly show up to court in early August, and he could be facing some type of discipline (likely just a fine, if anything) from the league for this situation. Whitehead also had the unfortunate and odd situation last week, where his dog was taken for ransom and he pleaded for help to bring it home. It seems like he has a good heart, but he needs to make smarter decisions.  Whitehead is normally the Cowboys’ return man, but rookie receiver Ryan Switzer could fill that role, so Whitehead needs to be careful off the field.

Browns head coach Hue Jackson talks up Duke Johnson.

The Browns running back is lining up all over the place for Cleveland, including a lot as a slot receiver. Hue Jackson said Jackson “is doing sensationally. We ask a lot of Duke. Duke is doing a lot of things for us. He is a terrific football player. Glad he is a part of our organization and team. He is very valuable to what we do.” Jackson also said Johnson “is going to do everything” for them, and it sounds like the head coach has grown very fond of his young running back. Johnson looks like he’ll get more than the 126 touches (53 receptions) he had last season.

Andrew Luck has started throwing, but will start training camp on the PUP list.

GM Chris Ballard addressed the media and announced this, while making clear his franchise quarterback has not had any setbacks. Some are questioning why he isn’t 100% yet after getting surgery after the season, but the Colts are being cautious an taking it slow with Luck. It’s a great sign that he’s resumed throwing, and it’s safe to say he will be more than ready for the start of the regular season. Luck can be taken off the PUP list at any time. Getting 100% by Week 2 of the preseason and getting reps in the games would be ideal for the Colts quarterback.

T.J. Logan leaves HOF Game with a wrist injury.

Logan had four carries for 24 yards and showed he was comfortable on returns, taking a kick 43 yards and returning a punt for ten yards. The fifth-round rookie left the game with a wrist injury on his final carry, and Bruce Arians says the team’s fingers are crossed that it isn’t a serious.

Murray (ankle) will open training camp on the PUP list.

This was an expected move, and it means that Murray will not practice until he’s removed from the list. Latavius has had a slow recovery from offseason ankle surgery, but this could be the Vikings just taking it slow with their new back. Rookie Dalvin Cook will certainly benefit from more first-team reps with Murray sidelined, and how quickly the veteran gets back on the field will be key to the battle to “replace” Adrian Peterson. If Murray can get back sooner rather than later, there is still a decent chance he wins the starting job. Minnesota will be one of the more interesting teams to watch in preseason action.
