David Montgomery | Lions RB

David Montgomery is in concussion protocol.

Montgomery left yesterday’s game late to get checked out for a concussion, and he unfortunately is now in the protocol ahead of Week 10. Montgomery will have less than a week to get cleared to face the Vikings this Sunday, and we’ll track his status throughout the week.

Alex Smith | Retired QB

Ron Rivera confirms that Alex Smith will be Washington’s starting quarterback.

Rivera says that Washington is in the thick of the NFC East race and will stick with Smith as its starting quarterback with Kyle Allen (leg) likely done for the season. Smith’s inspirational comeback and story continue, and pretty much everyone will be rooting for him to play well throughout the rest of this season.

Christian McCaffrey | 49ers RB

Christian McCaffrey could miss time with a shoulder injury, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

McCaffrey—who seemed to be in discomfort on the game’s final drive yesterday—is having tests, but Rapoport says his status is “very much in doubt” for Week 10. While we would think McCaffrey is going to do all he can to play through the injury (an upper body injury doesn’t carry the risk that a lower body one does), fantasy owners should prepare to be without him, and Mike Davis may again be in a featured role. For what it’s worth, Carolina doesn’t have their bye until Week 13.

Kyle Allen | Free Agent QB

Kyle Allen is expected to undergo ankle surgery, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

The procedure would put the rest of Allen’s season in jeopardy, but the outlook probably could have been worse considering how bleak things appeared when he went down yesterday. If so, Alex Smith would be the starter for Washington, and he should only get better with more game reps. In four starts this year (two of which he left early), Allen went 1-3 with 610 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.

Michael Thomas | Free Agent WR

Michael Thomas (ankle/hamstring) is officially active for Sunday night.

Thomas is officially back in the lineup after being out since Week 1 with his ankle and then hamstring issues. There’s a chance Thomas is limited in his first game back, but you’re probably getting him into all fantasy lineups for teams you have him rostered.

11/8/20 - 06:51 PM ET

Chris Godwin | Buccaneers WR

Chris Godwin (finger) is official active for Week 9.

In what could’ve been a lengthy injury, Godwin is back after missing just one game following finger surgery. Don’t hesitate to fire up the star receiver in a potential shootout versus the Saints tonight.

Ben Roethlisberger | Retired QB

Ben Roethlisberger (knee) is back in for the Steelers.

This is great to see in Pittsburgh’s first offensive possession of the second half. Roethlisberger is clearly hobbled, but it appears there isn’t anything serious that’s structurally wrong with the knee after he was examined. Big Ben is looking to lead a comeback effort by the Steelers, who are down as heavy road favorites at Dallas.
