Join now >Sam Darnold (shoulder) is not expected to play on Monday night.
Jets head coach Adam Gase is calling Darnold doubtful to face the Patriots in Week 9, so it looks like it’ll be Joe Flacco under center again. It’s very unfortunate that Darnold has been unable to stay healthy, especially in a critical season for his standing in New York.

The Giants will not play Golden Tate in Week 9.
Tate was caught on camera last Monday night saying to throw him the ball after he caught a touchdown, and that type of attitude doesn’t fit the culture new head coach Joe Judge is looking to build with the Giants. Credit the first-year head coach for sending a message he felt that he needed to send. We’ll see what happens, but expect Tate to return to the lineup next week.

Sammy Watkins (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 9.
Watkins will now miss his third game in a row, but we would guess that he’ll be back following the team’s Week 10 bye. Mecole Hardman should again be considered an upside FLEX option tomorrow.

The Cowboys plan to start Garrett Gilbert tomorrow.
The former Texas and SMU quarterback will now make his first career NFL start for the Cowboys, which is pretty cool. Gilbert has a very tough task playing against an elite Steelers defense, so he should not be trusted in Week 9 fantasy lineups.

Christian McCaffrey (ankle) has officially been activated from injured reserve.
McCaffrey—who has been out since going down in Week 2—will immediately be an elite, high-end RB1 option for this week against the Chiefs and down the stretch. The superstar back might not get 25-30 touches right out of the gate, but Carolina should lean on him in what will likely have to be a shootout against Kansas City.

Dexter Williams has a sprained MCL.
Williams is expected to be out at least three weeks, so he’ll almost certainly be placed on injured reserve (forcing him to miss a minimum of three games) soon. It’s unfortunate that Williams suffered the injury after getting an opportunity to play on Thursday night.

Ezekiel Elliott (hamstring) is officially questionable for Week 9.
We’d think Elliott will be fine for Sunday against the Steelers, but the Cowboys might not want to risk further aggravation for their star runner. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, Dallas plays in the late-afternoon window, so be sure to have a backup plan in place if you want to use Zeke in lineups.
