On a reception with just over a minute to go in the first half, Edelman appeared to grab his rib area after being tackled. The veteran receiver is officially being called questionable to return as we begin play in the second half. We’ll update you as more information becomes available on Edelman’s status.

Kerryon Johnson gets heavy workload in Week 3.
The Lions were not very effective on the ground against the Eagles, but Johnson racked up 20 carries for 36 yards and a touchdown along with one reception for seven yards in Detroit’s close victory. The numbers aren’t pretty, but 20 carries in the first game without the recently-released C.J. Anderson is obviously a promising sign moving forward. Johnson’s touchdown came at the goal line, and while the overall numbers and yards per carry weren’t pretty, there was simply nowhere to run against the Eagles. There’s some risk next week that Detroit goes away from the run game if they fall behind against Kansas City, but Kerryon should probably be locked in fantasy lineups every week.

Royce Freeman (shoulder) as returned for the Broncos.
Freeman appears to be fine, as he didn’t miss much time while being evaluated for his shoulder injury. He’s back in there in the second quarter.

Drew Brees (thumb) says he thinks he can be back in less than six weeks.
Unsurprisingly, Brees is attacking the rehab process hard, which he says he was able to start right away because the surgery was “something that immediately gives [the thumb] strength and stability” and that he was able to start rehab right away (he did not have to spend time in a cast first). In his weekly interview with WWL Radio, Brees added about his timetable for return, “they say six-to-eight weeks. I think I can beat that, but I’m just gonna take it one week at a time and see how things go.” Brees also reportedly got advice from Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout, who had the same surgery and missed six weeks but reportedly told Brees he was pain-free after five weeks. The Saints have a Week 9 bye, but Week 8 might be a possibility for a return if Brees returns quicker than expected. As the very least, we’d be surprised if Brees is not back for a Week 10 matchup with the Falcons.

Allen Hurns (concussion) is officially questionable to return against the Cowboys.
Hurns was hit extremely hard against his former team, and it appears unlikely that he’ll return to today’s game. Hopefully Hurns is feeling better soon.

Austin Hooper scores twice in Falcons’ loss.
Hooper caught six passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns in Atlanta’s 27-24 Week 3 loss at Indianapolis. Both touchdowns came in the red zone, and quarterback Matt Ryan clearly loves throwing to Hooper in that area of the field. There was talk from the Falcons of Hooper taking another step this season, and it looks like he’s doing that with 19 receptions through three games. Hooper is a high-floor fantasy option for Week 4 against the Titans.

Freeman is headed to the locker room. We’ll update you when more information becomes available on the second-year back’s status.
