Join now >The Redskins are placing Derrius Guice on injured reserve, according to NBC Washington’s JP Finlay.
The Redskins are already getting hit pretty hard by injuries this season, and this move will help clear a roster spot for a healthy player. Guice will now miss at least eight weeks, but he’s a good bet to return as a designated-to-return player. The second-year running back is first eligible to return in Week 11 against the Jets, which is good timing with Washington’s bye week coming in Week 10. Guice is probably worth a hold on fantasy rosters if possible, but he’s not a must hold if you don’t have an IR spot.

Hunter Henry suffered a tibia plateau fracture in his left knee.
This is the opposite knee of Henry’s 2018 ACL injury. The Chargers say Henry will continue to be evaluated and a timetable is not yet known; however, this is a serious injury that will almost certainly force Henry to miss at least several weeks. Keep in mind that Henry had an awesome comeback from a torn ACL last year (returning for the playoffs in January of 2019), so perhaps he’ll surprise and somehow tough this out. But for now, prepare for Henry’s season to be over. This is really unfortunate news for the fourth-year tight end, as he’d be a rising star in the league if not for injuries. Perhaps the Chargers will bring back Antonio Gates again like they did last season, but none of LA’s tight ends are recommended fantasy options.

Derrius Guice is out indefinitely after having knee surgery this morning, according to Ian Rapoport.
Guice needed to have his meniscus trimmed, and Rapoport says the Redskins are considering their roster options, which would seem to indicate injured reserve is a possibility. In a best-case scenario, Guice can probably return in late October, but that may be optimistic, and it will now be 34-year-old Adrian Peterson leading Washington’s backfield once again. Ideally, you will be able to stash Guice on an open IR spot, but if you don’t have that option in your league, dropping him wouldn’t be crazy.

Lamar Jackson throws five touchdowns in Ravens’ 59-10 rout of the Dolphins.
Jackson insisted all summer that he’d be throwing the ball and might not run as much as last season (despite the coaching staff saying that he would run a lot again), and he was right in the season opener. Jackson carried just three times for six yards, but he was 17/20 for 324 yards and five touchdowns passing (four in the first half). Miami is expected to have the worst team in the league and did not play well at all, but Jackson still threw the ball accurately to both short and deep areas of the field. The former Heisman Trophy winner’s schedule remains promising for Week 2, as Baltimore has a matchup with Arizona. If Jackson is somehow available in your league, he should be picked up as a potential early-season QB1 at the very least.

Mike Williams (knee) is questionable for Week 2.
Williams’ status looked shaky at best over the past couple of days, but his outlook appears more promising today after a limited practice, and there’s now a decent chance he suits up against Detroit. Los Angeles will really rely on the former No. 7 overall pick in the red zone with Hunter Henry (leg) out, so if Williams is active, he’ll be a high-upside FLEX option as Keenan Allen does battle with Darius Slay.

Tyler Kroft (foot) was officially limited in today’s practice.
Kroft was also limited all last week before being listed as doubtful and not playing in Week 1. Expect him to remain limited Thursday and Friday, but hopefully he gets a questionable tag with a better chance to play on Sunday when the final injury report is released.

The Vikings are placing Josh Doctson (leg) on injured reserve, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Doctson is dealing with a hamstring issue, but he could be one of Minnesota’s two players that can return off IR after eight weeks. This time off will allow Doctson to get a better grasp of his new playbook, with the potential to step in an make an impact if he gets back on the field for the Vikings later in the season. Doctson is not a recommended hold in redraft leagues.
