Darren McFadden | Retired RB

Darren McFadden has announced his retirement from the NFL.

After a mutual parting of ways with the Cowboys last week, McFadden is now deciding to call it a career. McFadden's statement, which he posted on social media, can be read in the link below. As the fourth overall pick out of Arkansas by Al Davis and the Raiders in 2008, McFadden spent seven seasons with Oakland before spending his last three in Dallas with the Cowboys. McFadden battled injuries throughout his career, but he still had a productive one that included 1,302 carries, 5,421 rushing yards, 28 rushing touchdowns, 254 receptions, 2,114 receiving yards, and five receiving touchdowns. His best season was in 2010, when he had 223 carries for 1,157 yards and seven touchdowns along with 47 receptions for 507 yards and three touchdowns. Many of you will also remember McFadden's final college game against LSU, when he rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns in a 50-48 upset of the Tigers. We wish McFadden a lot of luck on life after football, and it's good to see he seems to be at peace with his decision.

The Cowboys are waiving running back Darren McFadden.

According to multiple reports, this is a "mutual" parting of ways between McFadden and the Cowboys. This makes a lot of sense, as McFadden probably feels he can be a productive player but hasn't been playing even with Ezekiel Elliott suspended for six games. There should be teams interested in McFadden, whether it be by claiming him or by signing him after he clears waivers. The division rival Redskins might be a team to keep an eye on.

Darren McFadden is inactive for Week 11.

McFadden appears to be a healthy scratch, as he was third in the running back rotation behind Alfred Morris and Rod Smith last week versus the Falcons. So the Cowboys are going with two active running backs tonight against the Eagles. You can drop McFadden from your fantasy team.

Darren McFadden sees just one touch in Week 10 loss.

It was a carry that went for negative-two yards. Alfred Morris is the clear starter with Rod Smith the top change-of-pace option, so McFadden doesn't need to be owned in fantasy leagues barring a drastic change. The Cowboys face the Eagles in Week 11.

Darren McFadden carries twice in Cowboys' third preseason game.

He had 21 yards on his two carries, and the focus shifts towards Week 1 against the Giants. McFadden will have RB1 potential for the six games Ezekiel Elliott is suspended, though Alfred Morris' presence might prevent McFadden from getting as many carries as some anticipate with Zeke out.

Darren McFadden gets another start, looks good in Cowboys' preseason win.

McFadden rushed nine times for 59 yards and caught a four-yard pass in the exhibition. The veteran's ADP will continue to rise after Ezekiel Elliott's suspension and another strong outing, but we wouldn't reach too far for the soon-to-be (next week) 30-year-old, as Dallas has a tough schedule this year, particularly in September with the Giants, Broncos, and Cardinals.

McFadden rushed six times for 28 yards and caught an eight-yard pass in Saturday night's game against the Rams.

Getting the start for Ezekiel Elliott, McFadden looked pretty good, despite Dallas missing most of their first-team offensive line and Dak Prescott. Turning 30 in a couple weeks, McFadden has RB1 potential early on with Elliott suspended for the first six weeks of the regular season. His ADP might get a little out of control to be worth it, though.

The Cowboys re-signed running back Darren McFadden, according to Nick Eatman.

It's a one-year deal. McFadden will backup Ezekiel Elliott and should mix in for a good amount of touches in a run-oriented attack. He'lll be among the best handcuffs in 2017 fantasy drafts.

Darren McFadden gets nine touches in Week 17.

He got his work early in the game, getting seven carries for 28 yards and two receptions for 19 yards. McFadden's regular season finished with 24 carries for 87 yards and three receptions for 17 yards in three games. He'll backup and get some playing time behind Ezekiel Elliott in the playoffs.

Week 17 preview? McFadden leads Dallas in carries.

Darren McFadden rushed 14 times for 49 yards in Monday night's win over the Lions. The Cowboys are pulling back Ezekiel Elliott's touches with the #1 seed locked up, as the rookie saw just 12 carries. McFadden should see the bulk of the work in Week 17 against the Eagles, which makes him a good option for fantasy owners needing a back.

Darren McFadden makes 2016 season debut against the Bucs.

After missing most of the season after injuring his elbow diving for his phone before the season, McFadden returned and had three carries for 10 yards against Tampa Bay. Alfred Morris was inactive in favor of McFadden. McFadden is among the best handcuffs in fantasy football after rushing for over 1,000 yards last season with the Cowboys.
