Join now >Vanderbilt quarterback Kyle Shurmur is signing with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent.
Shurmur is the son of Giants head coach Pat Shurmur, and he played all four seasons at Vanderbilt, including as the starter his last three years. He got better every year in college, including throwing for 3,130 yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions as a senior, and he broke program passing record previously held by Jay Cutler. Shurmur has the size (six-foot-four, 230 pounds) and benefit of being the son of one of football’s best offensive coaches, and he also has leadership qualities that make him an appealing guy to have on the roster. Don’t be surprised if he becomes Patrick Mahomes’ backup long-term.

The Broncos are signing Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien as an undrafted free agent.
The name might sound familiar, as Rypien is the nephew of former Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien. The four-year starter at Boise State threw 90 touchdown in his college career, with his best season coming as a senior when he completed 67.3% of his passes for 3,705 yards, 30 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He’ll look to work his way into a roster spot as the No. 3 quarterback in Denver to start his career.

The Raiders have signed undrafted fullback Alec Ingold, according to Tom Pelissero.
This is an ideal landing spot for the Wisconsin product, as he is a very good run blocker and typical Jon Gruden guy (and Raider, for that matter). He won’t turn into a fantasy contributor, but there’s a good chance Ingold leads the way for Josh Jacobs in an all-rookie backfield this fall.

Undrafted free agent quarterback Tyree Jackson is signing with the Bills, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter
Jackson is one of the more intriguing players in this year’s draft, as he’s a massive six-foot-seven, 249 pounds with a laser for an arm and plus athleticism. As a junior for Buffalo last season, Jackson threw 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, and he decided to enter the NFL draft instead of staying in school for his senior season. He certainly must be disappointed after not getting drafted, but he lands in a good spot in Buffalo (where he went to college) with the Bills, and he has a chance to develop into Josh Allen’s long-term backup.

The Panthers are singing Georgia running back Elijah Holyfield, according to Ian Rapoport.
The son of legendary heavyweight boxing champion of the world Evander Holyfield, Elijah brings that same hit-you-in-the-mouth mindset to the football field. He bided his time for a couple of seasons behind Nick Chubb and Sony Michel at Georgia, but he became a key part of a split backfield with dynamic runner D’Andre Swift in 2018. Holyfield rushed for 1,018 yards and seven touchdowns on 159 attempts in his final college season, opting to forego his senior year and head to the NFL. The pre-draft process didn’t help Holyfield (particularly his 4.78 40 time), but his play on the field and his no-nonsense running style is the real deal. Holyfield at least has the potential to work his way into a change-of-pace runner that won’t be fun for defenders to bring down while complimenting Christian McCaffrey in Carolina. He’s just a dynasty-league option for now.

The Cardinals have selected UCLA tight end Caleb Wilson in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
The last pick of the draft and “Mr. Irrelevant” is a tight end that left college after his junior season after playing very well in 2018. With former NFL head coach Chip Kelly arriving to UCLA last year, Wilson’s production took a sizable leap while playing in one of the best offenses around. He had 60 receptions for 965 yards and four touchdowns as one of the best players for the Bruins in 2018, stretching the field and coming up with tough catches throughout the year. He has the potential to become the top tight end for the Cardinals, but his fantasy value is probably limited to dynasty leagues for now. Despite the “Mr. Irrelevant” name, the depth chart in Arizona potentially gives Wilson an opportunity to have a big role in the NFL.

The Vikings have selected Colorado State wide receiver Olabisi Johnson in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Johnson played with current Dallas Cowboy Michael Gallup at Colorado State, and he was a reliable player for the program the last three years. As a senior, Johnson had his best season statistically, with 54 receptions for 796 yards and four touchdowns. Johnson ran a 4.51 and has a 38-inch vertical at six-foot, so he has good athleticism to go along with his reliable playing style. He’ll look to win a roster spot with the Vikings this summer.
