Benjamin Watson | Retired TE

Benjamin Watson (illness) is officially inactive for the NFC title game.

Watson was said to be out on Friday because he missed the first two practices of the week while dealing with appendicitis, and he’s now officially inactive despite being listed as questionable entering the weekend. However, the veteran tight end was able to warm up a bit pre-game, and it looks like he should be ready for the Super Bowl if New Orleans advances. If not, it’ll be an unfortunate end to the veteran tight end’s career.

Devin Smith | Panthers WR

The Cowboys signed Devin Smith to a reserve/future contract.

Smith has had about as bad of injury luck as possible since being drafted in the second round (37th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft. Smith suffered two torn ACLs to the same knee in 2015 and 2017, and he’s appeared in just 14 games since being drafted in 2015 (ten games as a rookie and four games in 2016). Smith will turn 27 this offseason, and hopefully his luck will turn and he can stay healthy while attempting to carve out a role for Dallas moving forward.

Jordan Matthews | Panthers TE

Jordan Matthews did not catch a pass in the Eagles’ Wild Card win.

Matthews did draw a key pass interference penalty on a deep ball in the tight one-point victory over the Bears, though. Matthews will be Philadelphia’s No. 4 wide receiver in next Sunday’s Divisional Round matchup with the Saints.

1/6/19 - 08:19 PM ET

DeAndre Hopkins | Ravens WR

Colts shut down DeAndre Hopkins in Wild Card Round.

Hopkins caught five passes (on ten targets) for 37 yards in the Texans’ playoff loss to the Colts. Pierre Desir shadowed Hopkins throughout the game and did an excellent job of basically taking the All-Pro receiver out of the game. Hopkins nearly had a touchdown at the end of the first half, though, as he was open on an in-breaking route that Deshaun Watson threw low. Also, Hopkins injured his shoulder at the end of the first half, but he’ll be fine for the start of offseason training. Hopkins will go in the first or second round of all fantasy drafts this summer.

Michael Thomas | Free Agent WR

Michael Thomas sets Saints’ playoff record in win versus the Eagles.

Thomas caught 12 passes for 171 yards and one touchdown in the Saints’ Divisional Round victory. The Eagles appeared to opt to single cover Thomas for much of the game, and he was by far Drew Brees’ top target and got open often throughout the game. The 171 yards were a Saints franchise record. The score came on a mini back-shoulder throw from the slot deep in the red zone to put the Saints ahead in the third quarter. Thomas will now have an interesting matchup against Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters in the NFC Championship Game next Sunday, and Brees probably won’t shy away from giving him opportunities to make plays.

1/13/19 - 08:02 PM ET

Keke Coutee | Free Agent WR

Keke Coutee leads the Texans in receiving in playoff loss.

Coutee caught 11 passes for 110 yards and one touchdown in the Texans’ Wild Card loss to the Colts. The rookie receiver probably played the best of anyone on Houston’s offense, as he made himself available for Deshaun Watson and showed consistent hands throughout the game. The score was on a fourth-quarter swing pass where he stretched for the pylon; it looked like he might have lost the ball out of the end zone for a touchback, but it was ruled that he still had control while crossing the plane. Coutee appeared in just seven games (including today’s playoff game) in his first NFL season while dealing with hamstring issues throughout the year, so he’ll look to get his soft-tissue issues sorted out leading up to next season. Coutee will have at least FLEX upside in 2019, and he’ll be a particularly strong option in PPR leagues.

1/5/19 - 07:53 PM ET

Travis Benjamin | Free Agent WR

Travis Benjamin did not catch a pass in the Divisional Round.

With the Charges eliminated, Benjamin’s season is over. The speedster is entering a contract year with the Chargers, and he could potentially have a bigger role if the team doesn’t re-sign impending free agent Tyrell Williams in the offseason.
