Josh Rosen | Free Agent QB

The Cardinals have officially hired Kliff Kingsbury.

This was reportedly set to happen, and Kingsbury become the first head coach to officially sign with a team in 2019. Kingsbury has had quite the few months, as he was fired by Texas Tech in late November yet is now the head coach of an NFL team. The Cardinals are apparently going for a home-run hire that’s geared toward offense as they look to get 2018 first-round quarterback Josh Rosen and the offense going after they were clearly the worst offense in the league this season, and this hire is probably great news for all of the Cardinals skill position players. Kingsbury is known for his passing attacks, but he’ll hopefully be wise enough to feed David Johnson the ball at least 20+ times per game (combined on the ground and through the air). We’ll see what happens, but this hire still doesn’t make us optimistic about Rosen delivering QB1 value at a stacked position in 2019.

Darren Sproles | Retired RB

Darren Sproles gets 15 touches in Eagles’ playoff win.

Sproles carried 13 times for 21 yards along with two receptions for 14 yards in the Wild Card Round victory over the Bears. Chicago arguably has the league’s best defense, and they did a good job of shutting down Sproles and the rest of Philadelphia’s running backs. The veteran running back should get another dozen-plus touches next Sunday against his former Saints team in the Divisional Round.

Todd Gurley | Free Agent RB

Todd Gurley says he wasn’t hurt in yesterday’s NFC title game, he just played “sorry as hell.”

Gurley told NFL Network’s Steve Wyche that he was sorry, so “C.J. (Anderson) did his thing. The whole team did its thing. Everybody kept me up in the game. That’s why it’s a team sport. This is the greatest team sport in America. It takes everybody, everybody on the team and that’s what we did.” Despite a touchdown, the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year arguably had his worst game as a pro in the Rams’ win to advance to the Super Bowl, as his early drop led to three points for the Saints and a later drop cost his team a first down and potentially a touchdown. Gurley could just not want to use any injury as an excuse for his play, but expect he’ll be his usual self with an extra week to prepare for Super Bowl LIII against the Patriots.

Ted Ginn Jr. | Retired WR

Ted Ginn Jr. catches three passes in Saints’ playoff win.

Ginn gained 44 yards on his three receptions in the Divisional Round win versus the Eagles. The veteran receiver was targeted on a deep ball on the first play of the game, but it was slightly underthrown by Drew Brees and the pass was intercepted. Ginn worked as the No. 2 receiver for the Saints, and he’ll continue as such next weekend against the Rams, who can be beaten deep.

Keenan Reynolds | Free Agent WR

The Seahawks singed Keenan Reynolds to a futures contract.

Reynolds has been off and on Seattle’s roster the past couple of years, and he’ll enter the offseason looking to carve out a role in the receiving corps for the Seahawks. The former Navy quarterback doesn’t need to be owned in dynasty leagues right now.

Ryan Griffin | Free Agent TE

Ryan Griffin catches one pass in playoff loss to the Colts.

It went for six yards. Griffin saw a healthy five targets in a 21-7 defeat, but Houston struggled to do much of anything offensively. The veteran is under contract with one more season and should be back in 2019, but he won’t be on the fantasy radar in drafts next summer.

1/5/19 - 07:59 PM ET

Drew Brees | Retired QB

Drew Brees throws two touchdowns in NFC Championship Game loss.

Brees was 26/40 for 249 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the crushing home overtime loss to the Rams. The Saints put up a quick 13 first-quarter points, but LA did an excellent job of containing New Orleans once they got settled in to the game and made some adjustments. Brees’ touchdowns were both short scores, with one going to Garrett Griffin and the other going to Taysom Hill on quick passes. The interception came in overtime when Brees’ arm was hit by Dante Fowler Jr. on a deep ball attempt. At the end of regulation, Brees calmly led his team down the field—including with a 43-yard deep ball where Ted Ginn Jr. made a great play on the ball after it looked like it might have been set to get intercepted—and then he targeted Tommylee Lewis on a swing pass that would’ve potentially iced the game by setting the team up for a game-winning field goal, but no penalty was called on what looked like a clear pass interference. Unfortunately for Brees and the Saints, the game continued and they weren’t able to pull out a victory to get to their second Super Bowl. Brees just turned 40 a few days ago, but he’s still playing at an extremely high level; there isn’t much doubt he’ll be back with New Orleans as one of the league’s best quarterbacks again in 2019.
