Join now >Alex Smith, Redskins dominated in 43-19 loss to the Saints.
Smith was 23/39 for 275 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception, also adding two carries for seven yards and another score while losing a fumble. Overall, Washington was simply dominated on a historic night for Drew Brees—who broke the all-time passing yards record for a career—and New Orleans, which was a major surprise considering they were coming off a bye week. At the season’s quarter-mark, Smith is on pace for 4,168 yards, 16 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, but the touchdowns should become more frequent as the schedule softens up, starting next week against the Panthers. Consider Smith a solid QB2.

Brian Quick catches one pass in loss to the Saints.
It went for six yards. Quick isn’t a recommended fantasy option, even with injuries impacting Washington’s receiving corps.

Jordan Reed held to one reception in Week 5 loss.
It went for 21 yards and didn’t occur until the game was basically in hand as the Saints handled Washington, 43-19. Interestingly, Reed didn’t seem to be on the field much on the game’s opening drive, and it wasn’t until Vernon Davis (hamstring) went down that he became an every-down player. Through four games, the talented 28-year-old is on pace for a 60/756/4 line, and the Redskins probably need to get him more involved in the coming weeks. We’ll see if that happens against the Panthers next Sunday.

Vernon Davis (hamstring) is doubtful to return against the Saints.
Davis probably won’t be returning in a blowout, so the veteran tight end’s night ends with two receptions for 15 yards. Davis received a lot of playing time—perhaps more than Jordan Reed—but he’s a volatile fantasy option for Week 6 against the Panthers.
10/8/18 - 11:12 PM ET
Chris Thompson (rib) is questionable to return against the Saints.
Thompson just took a shot on a quick slant on a two-point conversion attempt. He was being looked at on the sideline, and being called questionable in a blowout is probably a good sign that the injury isn’t too serious. He probably won’t return tonight, though.
10/8/18 - 11:05 PM ET
Benjamin Watson catches all four targets against the Redskins.
The veteran tight end was a reliable target for Drew Brees on underneath routes after play-action fakes, and he gained 30 yards on his four receptions. Watson faces his former Ravens team after New Orleans’ Week 6 bye week.
