Join now >Rex Burkhead (neck) did not return on Sunday night against the Lions.
Burkhead left the game with a neck injury, catching two passes for 26 yards before exiting. He did not receive a carry. New England looks determined to make first-round pick Sony Michel their featured back, so Burkhead’s stock takes a big hit after Sunday’s loss. We’ll provide an update on his status for Week 4 when one is available.

Cole Beasley catches three passes against the Seahawks.
Beasley gained 46 yards on his three receptions (five targets) in the Week 3 loss. It’s difficult to trust anyone in Dallas’ passing attack right now.

James White finds the end zone in surprising loss to the Lions.
White rushed four times for 37 yards in the 26-10 defeat, also catching three passes for 14 yards and a score. Most of the receiving back’s damage on the ground came in garbage time with New England just handling it off on three plays in a row, but he could be ticketed for the clear lead pass-catching role out of the backfield with Sony Michel struggling and Rex Burkhead (neck) injured. Also, the offense as a whole should get back on track soon, but White won’t be a recommended fantasy option in Week 4 against a 3-0 Miami team that’s held him in check throughout his career.

Geoff Swaim leads Cowboys in Week 3 receiving.
Swaim was targeted seven times against the Seahawks, catching five passes for 47 yards, with a long reception of 20 yards. Swaim is currently the top tight end for the Cowboys, but he’s not a recommended fantasy option at the moment.

Sony Michel operates as clear lead back in Week 3 loss.
Michael rushed 14 times for 50 yards against the Lions, also catching a pass for negative-one yards. The Patriots were clearly committed to feeding their first-round pick, but he was bottled up all night, and it’s fair to wonder if the offense would have had more success trying to pass the ball on early downs. Also, Michel largely struggled in the passing game on back-to-back plays that caused a glare and a slight head shake from Tom Brady. Knowing how often New England switches their game plan, fantasy owners probably shouldn’t get too comfortable with the Georgia product working as the lead back, but he definitely has a ton of upside if that remains the case. Now might be the time to skeptically buy low, especially with Rex Burkhead (neck) dealing with another injury.

Melvin Gordon III handles 17 touches, scores in Week 3 loss.
Gordon rushed 15 times for 80 yards and a score, also adding two receptions for four yards in a 35-23 defeat at the hands of the Rams. The Chargers trailed but were in the game throughout, so it was a little surprising that Gordon didn’t get more than 17 touches, one of which he turned into an easy 11-yard touchdown. The all-around star running back should hopefully be back in the 20-25 touch range for Week 4 against the 49ers, and he’s a top-five RB1 in all formats.

Tom Brady, Patriots struggle in 26-10 loss to the Lions.
Brady was 14/26 for just 133 yards, one touchdown, and one interception on Sunday Night Football. It was a very surprising performance considering the Lions were 0-2 and New England was coming off a decisive defeat at the hands of the Jaguars, but Brady and the offense simply never got going. Of course, people are writing the demise of the dynasty like they seemingly do every year, so if a fantasy owner in your league is shopping TB12, now would be a great time to buy low. It would be surprising if they didn’t bounce back at home against the first-place, undefeated Dolphins next Sunday, so Brady should be considered a high-end QB1 for that matchup. And the entire offense would get a boost if Josh Gordon makes his team debut.
